Haha, just saw it on espnnews. Looks like he is still really desperate for that ring, good for him. Although it will be odd to see him in a patriot uniform.
Here's the story from Adam Shafter. Testaverde back with Belichick, to join Pats By Adam Schefter NFL Analyst (Nov. 14, 2006) -- Bill Belichick and Vinny Testaverde are being reunited for the third time in their career in their third different city together. They worked together in Cleveland from 1993-'95, again in New York with the Jets from 1998-'99, and now in New England. With the roster spot created when New England placed offensive lineman Billy Yates on injured reserve, the Patriots signed Testaverde, who turned 43 on Monday. Testaverde will be at practice Wednesday and in uniform for Sunday's game. Up until now the Patriots had been carrying two quarterbacks on their roster, Tom Brady and Matt Cassel. Last year they carried three with the veteran Doug Flutie. Nothing is thought to be wrong with Brady or Cassel, so all kinds of theories will exist as to why Belichick signed Testaverde now. But the two have always been close; Belichick once benched the popular starting quarterback Bernie Kosar in Cleveland in favor of Testaverde. This time, maybe Belichick wanted sideline help, maybe he wanted to give Testaverde one more chance at a playoff run and ring, and maybe he just thinks Testaverde's presence will be a bonus for the Patriots. But slowly, this is turning into the year of the geriatric comeback. Earlier this season, the Atlanta Falcons brought back 46-year-old kicker Morten Andersen, and now Testaverde has made his way back into the league. http://www.nfl.com/nflnetwork/story/9803140
consider me STUNNED. Not only am I surprised Vinny would play again ( I guess he trained all season and wants to throw a TD for another consecutive season), but I'm more baffled that Billy B. would hire this guy. I guess his mentorship skills are quite valuable, maybe we REALLY beat up Tommy that last game. Life is sure good this week ;-)
