Top 5 players: Browns - Myles Garrett 49ers - Reuben Foster Chicago - Mitch Trubisky Jags - Jonathan Allen Titans - Jamal Adams FA Acquistion / Players retained Brian Winters Andrew Whitworth Stephon Gilmore Vet QB [McCown???] RD 1 -> Malik Hooker - FS OSU --- Best Free Safety prospect since Earl Thomas. Jets have given up an inexcusable amount of 20+ TD passes; getting a center-fielder with ultimate range certainly should help put a stop to that. Jets passed on an Ed Reed years ago, Jets shouldn't make the same mistake. http://draftbreakdown.com/video/malik-hooker-vs-wisconsin-2016/ http://draftbreakdown.com/video/malik-hooker-vs-clemson-2016/ RD 2 -> Takkarist McKinley - EDGE UCLA --- I think one of the better pass-rushers this draft. Very good with his hands, has several pass rushing moves at his disposal. Put on his game-tape vs Utah and watch this guy beast. Puts Lorenzo in a secondary pass rushing role on certain downs. I think he will drop in this draft, even so the Jets could entertain a trade-up using Sheldon as a piece. http://draftbreakdown.com/video/takkarist-mckinley-vs-utah-2016/ http://draftbreakdown.com/video/takkarist-mckinley-vs-arizona-state-2016/ RD 3 -> Julie'n Davenport - OT BUCKNELL --- Scouting Reports say he needs to improve his strength, but has good athleticism / footwork. Could be a future LT. 6-7, 315. Gotta improve on technique too. Will be the LT of the future after the 1 yr deal with Whitworth. http://draftbreakdown.com/video/julien-davenport-vs-vmi-2016/ RD 5 -> Jeremy Cutrer - CB MIDDLE TN --- 6-2 CB that can tackle and play in run support really well. I think he has decent speed and can play in both man and zone with good pressing ability at the LOS. He's a very physical corner. http://draftbreakdown.com/video/jeremy-cutrer-vs-alabama-2015/ RD 6 -> TJ Watt EDGE WISCONSIN --- High energy player for STs RD 7 -> Tyrone Swoopes TE TEXAS --- Potential pass catching TE EDIT - Included gametape / improved crappy grammar
Yeah, those are crushing blows, if Foster were OTC, he would more than likely be the Jets selection. I expect Foster to go 2nd overall for sure, especially if they aren't sold on a QB. Lost Patrick Willis a few years back, Borland retired due to concussions. They really need a leader that will play all 3 downs and stop the run. I think except for 1 game, the 49ers allowed a 100 yard rusher. Jamal Adams would be a perfect fit for the Titans, they got a steller defensive line, decent pass-rushers, now they can fix the back-end starting with the Troy Polamalu like prospect. Don't feel bad though, Jets get a great consolation prize. He's converting to a TE at the next level.
Thanks sir ... I hope we target Gilmore, I think he could be a good piece for the Jets secondary. Him and Whitworth need to be on the top of the FA list. Whitworth gives us that 1 year gap at LT.
I would draft Pat Mahomes Jr with the 6th overall pick. Malik Hooker is a tempting pick as I think he will be very good one day, but he would have been better off staying another year under a real coaching staff than coming here to be destroyed by Bowles and friend.
Another QB would've been selected in the mock, but Chip was fired by the 49ers, I think they would've went with Watson. FJF pointed that out and I was thinking the same thing.
I'm hoping he slides, but we should entertain a trade up for McKinley at the end of the first, I think the highest he goes is in the 17-20 range.
