I think he is giving alot of input. He tends to have his hands on everything so I think he has a large say. This franchise does not run like any other professional organization. GM hires coach , Coach hires staff , GM and coach discuss players. GM makes final decision on players acquired. Here Woody gets his hands on everything and destroys it.
that's not how all teams do it. in fact, the Steelers, Giants, Patriots before Belichick became GM, the Broncos before Elway became GM.....all don't/didn't do it like that. there is nothing wrong with the org chart, other than Woody being the decision maker at the top of it. the key is having the right decision maker, not some linear reporting structure.
So typical Jets..and this guy is qualified why? Oh, I know because he made all the Jets QBs stars, right?
Why would he come here when he has much better options than the Jets? Plus Bowles is most likely out of here after next season. Hackenburg and Petty? Who's signing up for that?!
"other than Woody being the decision maker at the top of it. the key is having the right decision maker," There is the problem right there. The current structure is the GM and Coach reports to Woody. Woody tends to go along with whomever gets in his ear last. Not a key to success In my opinion. Fitz coming back, Woody's decision, Revis returning, Woody's decision. Tod Bowles hire, Woody's decision.
leave it to the Jets to go trolling in the dumpster for a replacement. Being a Browns OC is not exactly a gold star on your resume.
Other than your Post , the only one that comes close to being spot on was that this guy fits right in with the other losers on staff keep drinking the Kool Aid guys Pathetic hire if true
Can DeFilippo throw a football? If not it doesn't really matter who they hire with the shit show behind center the Jets currently have.
Wasn't Shanahan an OC for the Browns? He asked out of his contract because he realized it is a black hole of an organization, and he turned out to be a very good OC, who is now considered a very good candidate for a HC position. John Defilipo ability as a future OC should not be dismissed strictly because he was with the Browns. The question is whether he wants to come to an organization that has a lame duck HC and he might have to start over with another team next year.
looking into this a bit........i think one of the reasons we did NOT see hackenberg in there is because gailey was expected to retire. Why immerse yourself in a system that will change (at least somewhat) next year.
Why does anybody even care? We can just write next year off and then start with a new regime the year after and still not have a QB so the 3-4 year cycle will start all over..I really don't care who coaches what until we have an offense (read QB) that can actually win..seriously, bring Favre back..6 years removed he is still better than anything we have had in the last 20.
the other side of it is he took a downgrade this past season. Might have been a question of timing, of course. The other frightening element of the story was the Josh McCown reference. Josh McCown is Fitz.
The Browns in 2015 30th in points scored, team had 3-13 record. OC Eagles in 2016 16th in points scored, team had 7-9 record. QB coach So he sounds about right for the Jets. Seriously...what is going on here? Are DeFilippo's people trying to get him a job by putting his name out there? WTF? Has any head coach improved his team by firing a bunch of coaches? Belichik fires the players. Usually firing the coaches is the beginning of the end. Ron
