http://www.nbcphiladelphia.com/news...oach_John_DeFilippo_for_OC_job-409561395.html This guy was the QB Coach for the Jets in 2009. He was also the OC for the Browns in 2015. Perhaps Jets will look to go after McCown since DeFilippo and McCown had some success together. Several 300 passing yard games with Hartline and Benjamin as his targets. Got Gary Barnidge (TE) involved in the offense too. This guy seems kinda green as a coordinator, so it should be interesting, but all indications look decent so far if the Jets were to hire him. Doubt he will fix Hack, so perhaps a new QB is on the horizon?
Does anyone know what type of scheme he uses? Zone blocking, man to man, 2 TE formations, 60/40 pass to run ratio. I don't care what his resume is, I want to know how he uses personnel.
Under OC John DeFilippo, the Browns deployed a mixture of zone and gap blocking; though the majority of the scheme was zone. John DeFilippo seems to run a West Coast-style scheme, but it appears he likes to go vertical as well. Here was his opening day presser with the Browns: http://www.cleveland.com/browns/index.ssf/2015/01/cleveland_browns_new_oc_john_d.html http://www.dawgsbynature.com/2015/3/5/8151613/espn-cleveland-interviews-john-defilippo He made Gary Barnidge a pro-bowler.
He's actually highly regarded. What if Patriots fans told Kraft that Belichick was former Head Coach of the Browns and Defensive Coordinator for the Jets....pass. Give him a chance. He actually helped Derek Carr develop.
Sounds like this guy enjoys staying with teams for only one season. Sent from my KIW-L24 using Tapatalk
As Browns OC the offense finished ranked 30th in the league averaging 17.4 points per game..... I guess it's an improvement over this season. I don't get this franchise. Isn't the goal to improve?
It should be , but this has Woody all over it. This franchise never learns. There is simply no organizational chart. Woody can't go to England soon enough.
I doubt Mac has anything to do with this. If he is not over Bowles, why would he be over Bowles' staff.
are you suggesting Woody is choosing the position coaches? i don't think he can even name a position coach.
