Are we supposed to be impressed because you take a Securities class? Amusing. What are you a 2nd year law student or something at OSU? It's great that you're an OSU fan, but Nugent sucks. He may have been a savior at OSU, but he cannot make pressure kicks in the NFL and has yet to hit a FG from 50+ yards out in his pro career (after he was touted as being automatic from even 50+). He was drafted in the 2nd round and for a kicker that is like a normal player being taken first over all, in that the expectations are similar. So far, he's proved to be below average in KOs and average in FGs. Basically we could get his production from Jose Cortez.

The fan base at OSU might be larger than that of the Jets, but pressure doesn't just come from the fans. Missing a bigtime FG in College is no big deal, your team loses, you get another shot. Missing a bigtime FG in the Pros means you lose your job, and basically your career is done (ask Doug Brien). Plus, the media is much more critical here than in Ohio. The entire 2004 season was placed on Doug Brien's shoulders after he missed the 2 FGs, when in actuality there were lots of other problems that caused his to lose that game. In college, you miss a kick, you will rarely be the one that bears the full blame.

    What?

i LIKE OUR KICKER BUT TO SUGGEST THAT BECAUASE HE KICKED A 54 YARDER IN COLLEGE MEANS THAT WE SHOULD ALWAYS TRUST HIM IN SITUATIONS LIKE THAT IS JUST SILLY.cOME ON THE GUY HAS EVEN MISSED Extra points and a few other makeable kicks.

I agree Herm fucked him with the kneel down and also that he won the San Diego game. But he negated that by missing two the next week, that's the sad fact. Nobody cares if Adam Vinnetieri makes the kicks in the snow vs Oakland if he misses in the Super Bowl, that's just the job. Scott Norwood made some big kicks in his career too, it doesn't matter. They are forever judged by their latest and their biggest kicks.

Had he come back I'd have been ok with it, but when they replaced him I was certainly ok with that, too.

I'm done with him. He could retire today, and I wouldn't give the slightest damn.

Now I am trying to impress you by attending a Securities class? Hardly. I am actually rather impressed I went to class. I am a law student at Columbia to answer your question. Although, you're knock on Ohio State law school is rather laughable. I assume by your ignorance that you are not a lawyer. Additionally, Securities is presumably taken as a 3L. Nice try though. Impressing people on a Jets message board has always been a goal of mine. Thank you for calling me out.

Now the conversation that actually matters. How many "pressure" kicks has Nuge missed in his career? It's great that your a Jets fan, but you really should be more informed. If you miss a kick at OSU, you run the risk of costing the team a National Championship. A prospect as young as Nuge certainly does not worry about being out of football. He would be unemployed for all of three seconds if he were cut by the Jets.

Not to mention it looked pretty damn windy up there.

Conditions like that, you dont kick anything over 35-40 yards unless youve got no other choice.

Look at what happened to the Giants. I'll tell you this much, they won't try a long one vs the Bears in bad conditions, Chicago is likely to run it back for a TD.
