I'm not saying resign him for $10 mio. You only sign him as a backup for small $$. And as for his public statements, not sure what you would expect. He said he didn't play well enough to deserve to keep starting and didn't blame his receivers for dropping passes or OL for giving up pressure. But it's a silly argument anyway. Like I said shit for shit.

He is not going anywhere, this is NC when 2017 football season starts.

None of us are leaving the Jets, just enjoy the off season and come back for more punishment in the fall.

^^Different shit produced from a different diet is better than Fitz. There's absolutely zero marginal benefit to bringing him back over almost any other available scrub that is outweighed by the message resigning him, at any price, sends.

I don't think that's going to happen, I believe that changes to the staff would have been discussed in order for TB to keep his job.

There was a report that he wanted a more balanced offense and he was going to find another OC to accomplish that philosophy.

I wouldn't resign Fitzpatrick for any amount of money, regardless of how small it may end up being. His display of "leadership" this season was appalling and not something that I would want my two young QBs to be exposed to any more than they already have been. You can find better mentors out there on the FA market who have just as much (or little) ability as Fitztragic does.

I would rather have that than a waste of a spot on a vet with no upside that sucks

I would go after Taylor possibly Romo depending on other factors but that's another discussion

There will be coach drama all next year with the speculation whether Bowles will be fired or not.

Even the Bills are smart enough to know that if they were going to go into next year knowing that Rex would be coaching for his job then they may as well save themselves the headache and just get it over with.

What could Bowles possible do next year to warrant coming back for a 4th year and can he realistically achieve it? If not, why waste another year?

Bills aren't smart enough anything...Rex didn't get along with Whaley, plus the team didn't respect his leadership abilities. 7-8 after 8-8, I mean not exactly fireable offenses being .500 as if they are a top tier team, but it speaks more to how he ran the ship as the coach more than anything.

You win with players. Build the O line and develop Petty. Forget Coach drama. That's for the media. Good players win games.

sadly there is NOTHING to look forward to at this point.

did we lose any draft spots by winning today? only the jets would need to win to make the playoffs and lay a fucking egg then the next year to the same team win for no reason other than possibly hurting their draft position.

i see no future at head coach, very little future at gm, no future at qb, some future at wr but they are a bunch of guys whose best possible scenario makes the guy a solid #2 receiver. none of them are game breakers. no future at LT, C, G, RT, LB, S, CB

nothing more than average players all over the place, no stars, no guys that are trending toward being stars and really a bunch of fucking guys who arent good that we hope can become good players.

    fucking shame

i really think that the tyrod taylor situation played a decent size role in his firing. i am confident rex said he was going to play him, they said no absolutely not, he said well then fire me and they did just that.

No way in hell do I bring him back. Not only did he throw the Jet organization under the bus but he divided the locker room whether he wanted to or not. He needs off of this team along with Marshall.

+10000... This makes entirely too much sense ....naturally Woody goes the other way,,,(the intellectually challenged billionaire)

Instead ...The trend is starting....... the mass exodus and abandonment of the fanbase... here and with the gen pub of Jet Fans. plus PSLs..Don NC CBG and prob myself ( but Ill mediate about it first)

Where is the evidence that this team has a vision, "a commitment to excellence" ???? THERE IS NOTHING DONT FOOL YOURSELF

When Chan Gailey represents the best Coach on your staff (apologies Master Chan) there is big trouble here

Now Master Toilet Bowels will do his massive redo and the GM remains invisible

You have talent in those young WR and a couple of other players...but there is NO LEADERSHIP HERE

POOR MANAGEMENT POOR COACHES MEAN A BIG WASTE OF TALENT

WONT MATTER WHAT # DRAFT PICK YOU HAVE

Make Fun ...but Champ has been RIGHT all along

Nope we are still at 6 and will remain there. As for Bowles, Macc and the roster holes I agree but I also think that we can be better next year. I am a big believer that in football, its not always about talent but about team unity, cohesion and also a unified goal amongst all. This season has shown that when there are alliances within the locker room, divisive characters, underperforming vets, it becomes a problem. Rid yourself of those players and you may very well end up with a more unified and as a result better team. To be honest, I rather cut the high priced "stars" that aren't really stars and acquire good players who buy into winning and building a winning culture. Also, Macc will need to hit on rounds 1-4 and find immediate impact players and starters.

IMO, this all starts with Macc and Bowles. They have to sit down with each other and talk about the failures of 2016, they need to learn to never allow players the right to dictate personnel moves. They should never talk about contracts in the media (which Bowles rightly and smartly pointed out in post game presser). They also have to find an identity and build the team and its philosophy around that identity. The 2016 Jets had no identity, our defense sucked, our offense sucked, our special teams sucked, we don't strike fear into our opponents. They need to cement their identity and acquire players who will enact that identity. If you do that, you can have a quick turn around season.
