"In the end, the Jets did just that, stepped up and played harder, and maybe it wasn?t a huge factor in the game. Maybe it was only worth three points. And maybe now we know why Belichick tried to stop his fellow Wesleyan alum from jumping to the Jets: The guy is good. Belichick would have to admit it was much easier to be a genius when he was going up against Herm Edwards twice a year." http://patriots.bostonherald.com/patriots/view.bg?articleid=167185
rofl, looks like the college town bums are getting angry and realized were not a doormat anymore. good lol, fuckin baked bean clam chowder bisque sipping redcoat lobsterback assholes.
To be honest, after what is happening with Nick Saban his second year, and the team pretty much quitting on him, I'm a little worried to call Mangini a genius just yet.
I thought about this too, but there are a few differences: 1) Saban doesn't have a Tannenbaum. He doesn't have a GM that shares his philosophy and gets the players he wants. For that matter the Dolphins college scouting department isn't close to what the Jets have. 2) When Saban came in he immediately started signing older free agents. Instead of building from the bottom up, with getting young players and addressing the lines, they were trying to win now. Instead of realizing they were a rebuilding team and going about it that way, Saban and Company were going about things like they were going to the SB. So instead of getting younger, they just got old fast.
funny, I saw that exact same quote and I was going to post it as well. It's true, though, Herm never had an answer for Belichick. It was always, we do the same thing every time and if it doesn't work then we've just got to try harder.
The went up to Chicago and beat them and than beat KC, two very solid teams back to back. They haven't quit at all, they have a bad offensive team but they are going to be a tough out the rest of the way.
I was just about to echo that. I'm tellin ya, everytime I read this Mangini stuff, it just puts a smirk on my face.
Saban strikes me as a bit of a fruit, I don't know why, he just does. Going with Cullpepper as the QB didn't help him.
I think Mangini knows how to deal with today's NFL better at this point better than Saban does. Mangini stayed with Belichick until last year, while Saban was back in the NCAA.
Good article. The point is that Bellicheck is letting a 36 yr old rookie coach distract him. It would have made so much more sense for Belli to say, "Eric was with me 10 years. He was a good coach or he would not have been here so long. Next question."
rofl Hey, pahk the cah in the gahrahge by Hahvad Yod for those who dont speak Masshole (credit to TBTF on that one) Hey, park the car in the garage by Harvard Yard.
Absolutely - this is certainly not the time to be ragging on Saban after the Fins won unexpectedly twice in a row. It is obvious that the biggest mistake Miami made was going after Culpepper when they could have had Brees. Make that switch, and the team has at least 4 or 5 wins.
