Taken from today's ESPN/NewYork: http://www.espn.com/blog/new-york-j...-speculation-about-future-with-cryptic-remark Popeye has had his day. I'm sure way back he was as innovative and creative as they come. Now? You look up predictable and you'll find Gailey at the top of the results. TB talked him out of retirement. Now? he should do the right thing and let Gailey fade away. Sadly, as adverse to change as TB is, he won't do what's necessary. He'll try to coax Gailey into one last hurrah with a rookie Qb or a JAG.. There is no one on the Jet CS with the tools to train or develop a young Qb. There's no one on the Jet CS that can create a gameplan that isn't taken from the mid to late 90's either. If there is any hope at all for Hack, Petty or the Jets in general, they need to stop looking in the past to find their future. To paraphrase Jack Nicholson aka: The Riddler: "This team needs an Enema"
I remember last year a lot of folks were hoping QB coach Kevin Patullo would eventually take over for Gailey when he was done. Doubt that's the case anymore haha.
Truly nothing newsworthy here. If Bowles is fired he's obviously gone. If Bowles is not fired he gets fired anyway. He knows this, so this is his way of trying to keep some control and not look bad by saying he wanted to come back to a job he wasn't good enough to keep. He hitched his wagon to Fitzgarbage and he lost bigtime, and that's just the way it is.
Bitch about him all you want and I'm not calling him Steve Walsh, but sadly Gailey's been one of the better OCs this team has had in awhile, and the best Coordinator on this staff
Of the three coordinators, he should be the last to go. That's not to say that he shouldn't, but he would be the last firing I'd make if I were Bowles. The DC and ST coordinators must be shown the door Sunday night.
2015 was a great year for our offense for sure. He deserves credit for coordinating a top 10 offense. I just can't stand going empty back field on 3rd and short and goal to go situations. Absolutely hate that. And he does that shit often. Time to get a Richie Anderson-type Fullback back into the offense and perhaps a fucking decent TE.
My main knock on him is his handling of the running game, and this year particularly the use of Forte. Overall he hasnt been bad. He even made Fitzpatrick look like fools gold last year, but No one can pull that off forever
Walton my all time favorite, used to love watching him on the sidelines holding that clipboard picking his nose!
I just checked! My search engine came up Joe Walton picking his nose! I can't believe Robert Morris named their stadium after him.
Do you remember that after the '82 seaon, he was the HOTTEST coaching candiate in the NFL, and Hess fired Walt Michaels, at least in part, so that we wouldn't lose him!!! LOL
No OC looks good when their starting QB has a horrible season. With that said, Gailey did not do a good job calling plays. Personally, I would rather get rid of Boyer and KC Rodgers before I got rid of Gailey. I say that too because we have to take into account Hackenberg and Petty's progression. If we retain Bowles, we have to think about building these players up in the same system. Switching can take a toll on the development. Also adding to that, if we do let Gailey go I wonder if Kevin Patullo (current QB coach) would be considered.
1st and 10 pass...incomplete...2nd and 10 run, 1 yard gain....3rd and 9 pass....4th and 7 punt....shoot me
