This draft is top heavy of sec players, pass rushers and some LB's and our sec is a mesd, but yeah we should draft Fournette what a fucking joke is it when we have Forte and Powell?

We desperately need youth at the skill positions. Tired of just plugging dudes in there.

A stud fs would go along way in helping the secondary and the angst it would cause on this board when yet another d player is selected in the first would be the icing.

Jordan Howard and Jay Ajayi = 5th round picks.

Would you take Howard as your RB? So would I.

If we drafted Adams, I would want him to take away the underneath routes, screens, etc. I wouldn't want him playing deep all of the time, I would want him closer to the LOS. I guess you could have him and Pryor out there at the same time, but if I had a choice, I would throw Adams in as a SS, find a true ball hawk like a Malik Hooker that can play deep and let Pryor go. Those down the field passes, that's not to say Adams can't do it, I just don't see that being his forte at the next level.

It goes both ways. Great safetys have been taken in later rounds too

If it's not his strength then we need to stay away. I'd like for us to take a look at converting Burris to safety if he proves he can tackle in camp. Malcom Jenkins was a corner and converted to safety and is now one of the leagues best. They seem to be similar in size as well.

    Byron Jones - Cowboys
    Malcom Jenkins - Eagles
    Antrell Rolle - retired
    Micah Hyde - Packers
    Glover Quinn - Lions
    Devin McCourty - Patriots
    Mike Mitchell - Steelers
    Charles Woodson - retired
    Marcus Gilchrist - Jets
    Jairus Byrd - Saints
    Corey Graham - Bills
    Ron Parker - Chiefs

All of these players are converted corners to safety and have worked out pretty well. There are other cases throughout history where this has worked as well. They possess the cover skills to make plays and play man in a pinch. I was actually a bit surprised at how big this list is.

I wonder if our coaching staff would ever get this creative.

Don't count on it, we've had plenty of candidates in the past. Dwight Lowery he should've been a FS with the Jets.

Hard to find a good FS, which is why you do see these transitions happening. I still like Adams. If we didn't have Pryor on the team I would look at selecting him. A lot changes in the offseason ...

Do you trust the Jets staff to actually find those guys in the later rounds? The past track record says no. Give me Fournette and we finally have a 1st round pick that probably won't bust. The OL prospects suck for the early picks ad we've gone defense wayyyyyy too much. It's time to work on the offense early.

What's our track record of drafting a first round RB? Blair Thomas? That shouldn't be the argument.

And Bilal Powell worked out well for a fourth round pick.

I understand we've drafted defense every season for eternity, but I still think a top 6 pick on a RB is a reach. Especially with the state of our secondary.

I think a player like McCaffery or Cook fit better with Chan Gailey anyway

1 first round RB vs. how many years of failing in late picks? Powell is great but what about everyone else of late? I think the whole "don't take a RB in the 1st" has been blown out of proportion. Bell sure looks like a 1st round pick now huh. Fournette has legit Peterson potential and we've seen what he can do with a bad offense around him.

I like those guys too but realistically we aren't trading out of the top 10 to get those guys and not for nothing but Gailey isn't here past next year IMO. I'll take the guy with a legit future in the league over 2 guys who can fit in with an OC who is on his way out.

it's about opportunity cost. Value drop-off between Fournette vs a RB in the 3rd round is much lower than that of a corner or edge rusher. This is an easy call. We should not take Fournette period.

You are right with opportunity cost, I can't disagree there. We've ignored the offense for too long though. Every year we go defense and we've busted more often than not. Offense is winning in the NFL now. We have a nice nucleus of WR's forming and adding a legit playmaker in Fournette would help everyone on the offense, moreso than a 3rd round RB who more than likely is going to bust on this team. Forte is gone soon, Powell is what he is, Marshall is gone soon, Decker may never be the same, it's time to get some legit young playmakers on that side of the ball for once.

This draft is supposed to be really deep at CB and edge rusher also.

As for RB's - Alvin Kamara is looking good to me as a 3rd rounder. a little like Jamaal Charles (not quite as sleek but more sturdy) great PC out of the backfield
