Rex's in-game management got worse as the years went by, so apparently that's not an important consideration down in Floral Park. The only way I could live with Bowles coming back is if Gailey, Rodgers and Boyer are let go. Not one accomplished anything positive this year. In fact it appeared we regressed substantially on all three teams. And as for expectations next year, it starts with a "z" and rhymes with "hero."
my problem with this is that if they keep him for one more year and then decide to clean house Mac will most likely be gone as well. This would probably lead us to a problem that we currently have and that is that the head coach does not report to the general manager.
Totally agree. I don't get why people are hating on Chan so much when our offense has no talent, especially once we lost Decker. Our O-line is terrible, Fitz should get like 75% of the blame for his poor performance, and Marshall was awful this year. Not to mention we had no tight ends again. For continuity's sake, I would keep Chan and perhaps get rid of some of the positional coaches on offense. The defense IMO needs to be addressed via coaching changes as they have underperformed with good talent unlike the offense.
I'm bending over backwards with this team NC. Trying to hang with them although year in and year out, they disappoint in the most frustrating ways. We have a lot more in common with Chicago Cub fans than any other fanbase in professional sports . This shitfest is far beyond pathetic now. Like I said, I'm just about done man. I'm getting too old for this shit.
\ Maybe we can start a club and find an activity to fill our time on Sunday afternoons next year. I really think I may have to take a break from this team until Bowles gets the ax next year.
I don't see any changes off the boringly predictable play-calling if Gailey returns. And frankly, an NFL OC should be able to deal with the loss of Decker. I like ED, but it's not like we lost Jerry Rice. Minnesota lost both Bridgewater AND Peterson. Dallas lost Romo. KC lost Jamaal Charles. NE lost Brady for 4 games and went 3-1, and they're still a playoff favorite without Gronkowski. Eddie Lacy, CJ Anderson, Doug Martin all went down for long stretches. Yes it hurt to lose Decker, but that's not even close to an acceptable excuse.
Maybe this is like when Jeff Fischer got an extension only to be fired a couple weeks later. Could we be that lucky?
You guys are seriously considering becoming fans of other teams? I'm with you man. I love to watch the Jets when they're winning. I love watching Jets fans when the Jets are losing. You'd think the four horsemen of the Apocalypse are upon us....
Its really demoralizing from a fan perspective. We aren't even trying out there. I don't care how loyal a fan is, if the team isn't trying then why spend our time or hard earned money watching them? Its like going to see a play and the actors are sitting around eating donuts the entire time, who would pay for that?
The thing is, 2017 expectations can't be that high with the current state of the Jets. Even if they re-hired Bill Parcells as Head Coach. So it is definitely a tough spot.
So, I guess the writing on the wall from this decision is that we're in for at least two more years of Bowles. The team is going to be even worse next year after they gut the roster of all of the over-priced mercenaries they brought on board, which will leave the cupboard even more bare than it already is. Wins and losses can't be the sole criteria for determining whether Bowles returns after 2017, since I think it's fair to say that everyone agrees that the win total will again come in somewhere between 4-6. Can't wait for two more seasons of punting on 4th and 1 in the 4th quarter and using our time outs in the dumbest ways possible.
Cman, thank you for pasting it. This article provides zero evidence, not even mystery sources. This whole thing is pure unadulterated speculation designed only to get clicks. The only thing this FO did well was hide it's intentions. There is no way anyone inside Daily Snooze knows anything concrete. Frankly, considering their recent prediction history, this gives me great hope that Bowles will be fired.
I would rather establish a direction as a franchise than have a 3rd straight year of feigned attempts at competitiveness. I'd much rather go 5-11 with Hack as long as he shows signs of growth, than 9-7 with Romo. Best case scenario for us is something like what the Raiders did last season, a decent enough year that set up a much bigger future.
