The uncompetitive nature of the Jets these past few weeks may very well result in Bowles being fired. If we get blown out by the Bills with EJ Manuel starting and Rex just being fired, it would actually surprise me if Bowles was brought back.

It certainly would be an indictment of Bowles and the entire CS if the Jets fail to show up and get blown out at home again. Especially if Woody is in the house looking at all those empty seats. Although those seats are paid for, the revenue from the concessions and swag will certainly take a hit.

I totally agree. People want instant success and it's very rare you can do that in the NFL. People have no patience.

Hahahaha!!!!! See you guys in 2018. This team is a joke. The team has quit on him. They've quit since week 3. If that's not an excuse to fire Bowles then I don't know what is. I've been part of sports teams that won one game but I've always wanted to go out and hit the guy across from me because of my coach. This is a sick joke.

i'm ok with this. i don't know when the leash got so short on coaches and gms but it doesn't seem to be working. i'm a fan of the coaches get 2 qbs gms get 2 coaches rule of thumb.

on a selfish note, bring back bowles, resign geno and pick a defensive player in the 1st and i will enjoy the over emotional tgg teeth gnashing all spring.
make it happen mac, you overrated s.o.b.

It will be interesting to see how that inspired or uninspired that Bills team plays Sunday. On one hand they might want to rally around Anthony Lynn to get the head job because he is a popular man in that locker room.... on the other hand, ownership & management forcing Tyrod Taylor to sit just to save money certainly isn't going to be popular in that locker room.

the Bills just canned a coach who was popular before the end of the season, and benched their starting QB.
that sends a message that mgmt doesn't give a shit about the present, the current players, or this game.

then factor in the game being on the road for them, on New Years day..

my guess is the Bills will be watching the clock, nursing a hangover, and hoping the game moves very quickly.

the only thing that might inspire them is all the momentum the Jets will serve up on a platter.., as our team doesn't give a shit either.
the loser will be the team who wanted it least..

What signs do you see now that make you optimistic about 18 or 19?

The only silver lining to keeping Bowles would be continuity of the offense to help the young QB's. IF they retain Chan. Watch them drop Gailey and complete the incompetence.

The fact that our defensive minded coach fields such a bad defense... no pass rush, few sacks, no turnovers, WRs wide open with every QB the Jets face looking like Marino in his prime....and the d hasn't had nearly the injuries the offense had so Bowles doesn't even have that excuse. Goddam disgrace to keep him.

Leon Hess, after he fired Pete Carroll, and hired Rich Kotite.

the consolation prize of a bad season is the stupidity level rising around here and the denouncing the team from some of the worst posters. i get the same joy around draft time when we get the "if they draft player x i am done with this team" posts.
This off-season could be my super bowl.

I'm hoping that the symptoms of acute stupidity suffered by the Jet FO/CS will be cured by then and they'll have a clue as to what they're doing and what kind of team they want the Jets to be. Macc will get better as a GM as his first two drafts were at best, marginal. He really needs to step it up in that department and his late round picks seem to be better than Idzik's. Then again, your late round picks would have been better than Idzik's. By 2018, most if not all of Rex's holdovers should be gone and most of the dead weight pruned from the roster. Perhaps we might luck into a Qb or get lucky and one of Macc JAG Qb's has another career year. Luck is a word rarely associated with the Jets though so I hedge my bet with 2019.

If by 2020 this team is still a trainwreck, I'm done as a fan. Seriously.

I prefer Bowles gone. Macc should have the courtesy to pick his own coach since Bowles was forced on him. See Idzik and Rex. Hopefully Bowles resigns.

Yeah but 8-8 will be another lost season. Jets had an opportunity to dump Bowles and blew it. Nothing and I mean nothing says turn around with him.

Yep, its a weird situation because once Lynn took over the offense for the bills, they performed infinitely better but not starting Taylor also puts the team in a weird position. If we get spanked by the Bills I truly see no way how Woody brings back Bowles. Even if it may turn out to be the more sensible thing to do, you can't get killed by division opponents and not get canned. I think I saw a stat saying the Jets have lost by more than 14 points 6 times this year. In a league that's all about parity and teams winning on any given Sunday, that is a damning stat.

You're more patient than I. I may not be back next season if Bowles is. For certain, if things don't improve markedly next season, I'm done unless Woody sells the team.
