If thats the case then what a pussy.Emotional scars? The guys suppose to be an NFL QB not a 10 yeard old.
If he needs to be hid like this and can't survive one bad game, then he isn't a future NFL starting QB. When is the last time a team hid a QB, who they used a top 50 pick on, when their options ahead of the depth chart consisted of bad Quarterbacks?
To be honest, I'm not even sure if there is a purpose to starting hack in a meaningless week 17 game. If they had no intention of playing him I would stick to the plan and throw Fitz out there. I look at it from the stand point of letting a veteran QB who screwed our season play in the last game so he can get embarrassed on his way out of town. I also know that Rex Ryan has a track record of throwing crazy looks at Rookie QB's so I would prefer that the Jets stick to the plan, red shirt Hack, and aggressively attack the footwork aspect of his game once the offseason is in play. Putting Hack in for a meaningless week 17 game won't really show much, and if he screws up you know the media will just spin stories that he blows and Jets should draft another QB.
Let us not forget the lesson of David Carr: We've lost 2 backup QB's this year already. Let's not add a 3rd.
It's time for Fitztragic to lead the charge. Of course I don't know which way it will go. He isn't worth sh,, in the red zone except to throw pick 6's. Maybe one accidental TD to Anderson and a few to Rex's defensive group. Kiss him off. Luckily I won't be able to see the game, the first one I miss in 47 years.
David Carr played 16 games behind a trash OL... we're talking about one game here, where he throws 15-20 passes. Just let him play against a real NFL defense in an actual game. That experience cannot hurt him... as I said, if one game ruins him he likely was never going to be a starting NFL QB .
There's no point in starting Hackenburg. Let Fitz take his lumps. He wanted 14 million...let him earn it.
Clearly you don't understand the definition of a trash OL. Did you see what happened to Petty behind our OL? You want that to happen to Hack?
There is no point in playing Fitz, so why not give Hack a chance? I'm sure if he isn't a joke, he would be begging for the opportunity. All this crap about it hindering his development is a joke. What development? Putting on his uniform the right way? Talking to teammates on the bench? Hell they have reduced his role to the point where he doesn't even hold a clip board. Hack was a wasted pick. The luck this team has, he will play, light up the scoreboard and make the fans and coaches believe they have a real QB of the future, as we skip a good one in the draft this April.
At this stage, I don't see a decent reason not to play Hackenberg - something I've been against until now. With absolutely zero expectations, he can't fail and some real time experience might be something to help in the long term.
if they dont play hackenberg then there is no reason whatsoever to watch the game. enjoy your new years day without the Jets or watching an interesting rookie get his first start. win win either way for the fans. they have no balls though. Fitz will start and I'll have a nice afternoon nap.
There's no point in playing Fitz, there's no point in playing Hackenberg. Let's just forfeit this one.
They aren't QB savants like Rain Man, these guys have gone full retard when it comes to the QB position. Barring injury, Fitz will start and Hack will lose the golden opportunity to get a full week of practice and a little game time.
But it's not just one game, not really. He's had 2 years at college behind a really bad line, one preseason game behind a bunch of scrubs that nearly got him killed as well. The plan was always to red shirt him this year, lets stick to the plan for once. Not much to be gained by throwing him in there without a ton of reps and with a bunch of career backups and rookies to protect him either. Let Fitz take the beating.
What's all the worry about Hack playing behind our current line? Petty had to, Fitz has, and with the way our current GM works, it will be our line next year. Hack might as well grow a pair and play. If he gets hurt, we didn't lose anything but a long term project QB. Hell he might turn into the next Dan Marino. 1 and 2 step drops might be his thing.
That's the beauty of the NFL there will always be an exception to the rule. Jets won't know until he's out there.
