Man this franchise will never succeed, people want the GM and coach out 2 years in. The coach I can sometimes understand, but you have to give a GM more time with a few drafts under his belt. I am sure there will be some type of billboard Asking for him to be fired. Then he will move on to another franchise and turn them into a competitive one.

To put it plainly, No. I think your last statement is laughable. Fitz had a career season. He carried Bowles to 10 wins. There were a lot of other games the Jets should have won, but didn't. Bowles had nothing. He still has nothing.

Your idea that every HC deserves the chance to start a potential franchise QB is absurd. Their job is to figure out a way to win with what they have.

He could have also started Geno earlier, but didn't. I'd be willing to bet that it was Bowles that campaigned for Fitz to be brought back this season. Mac made it abundantly clear that he didn't value Fitz.

Shell and Burris have been 2 nice spots from these last couple games. Hopefully they continue to grow and establish themselves as building blocks.

Jordan Jenkins has been alright but I'd love to see him step up a little. And where the hell is Mauldin? Injuries, lack of production, he's been disappointing. I'd go get another OLB and have the new pass rusher and Jenkins as the starters and let Mauldin be a situational rusher; it seems like that's all he can handle.

The only reason Fitz had that career year was because of the defense causing so many turnovers. He repeatedly got the ball deep in plus territory. His efficiency stats were awful, he completed under 60%, under 7 YPA and 15 picks despite a ridiculous amount of dropped interceptions (which a lot of us pointed out in the offseason but were laughed at because apparently 'interceptable passes' isn't a useful statistic to predict regression).

The ONLY impressive thing he did was throw a lot of touchdowns, most of which were jump balls to Marshall and Decker. He didn't carry anybody. Now that Decker is gone, Marshall is getting doubled and he isn't getting the ball on the opponents' 30, he's back to being the garbage he's always been.

And the GM resigned him for $12 mil without him participating in any offseason practice and acted like he was the savior.

So in other words, based on the sentence I bolded, you want Mac to reach out of need?

No pick of Mac's has "set the franchise back enormously." That's absurd!!! Mac hasn't been here long enough for that to happen. Tanny started the problem with our roster with his missed picks and trade ups, and Idzik supplied the coup de gras with his two wretched drafts, one where he had 14 picks and missed on almost all of them. Those are the GMs who set this franchise back enormously.

well our GM/coaching staff has succeeded in one thing - getting draft picks on the field and getting some game tape to evaluate them going into 2017.....

though some would argue the most important pick, hackenberg, still has no tape.

I'm extremely conflicted on whether or not I want to see Hack Sunday. Petty dislocated his shoulder so he's most likely out, and starting Fitz accomplished absolutely nothing. Starting Hack would further cement any bad mechanics into his muscle memory, but I think getting him the live game experience against an NFL defense (and getting the in game evaluation of his performance) might be a worthy trade off. It'd be nice to get a quick gauge of where he is, ONE game (~30 throws) won't hurt him that much.

2nd round picks are critical picks and so far he is 0 for 2. Those type of moves set the franchise back whether you want to believe it or not. Hack is a bust, don't fool yourself. He will never be a productive starter in this league. I said the same thing about Sanchez who was way better than Hack and look how he turned out, holding clipboards as I predicted.

You don't just wait so many years to give the guy a chance if he clearly is not drafting IMPACT guys. Also his FA moves including Revis, not resigning Damon Harrison and several more were bad decisions.

This year is make or break for him. Bottom line.

Revis was a reasonable signing at the time. NO ONE could have foreseen how Revis play would suddenly fall off a cliff. Mac had to spend a lot of money, Woody wanted Revis back, so it made sense. Criticizing Mac for that move now is stupid and nonsensical.

Harrison wanted WAY too much money. The Jets couldn't afford it. It's that simple. Harrison would have made the run D better, but that would have had negligible impact on the team's play.

Harrison could've anchored that D Line for years allowing us to not resign Mo and shop Sheldon for a quality draft pick in the first 3 rounds. It's not like Mo had any real impact this year either.

I think we can agree that this is a big offseason for Mac and with a really good draft position he should be able to get us immediate help at key spots. I'm just a little hesitant that he'll use these premium picks wisely but hopefully that's just the past Jets draft blunders talking.

Do you remember this summer before Mo was re-signed? As far as we knew, Mo had been a solid citizen and a very, very good player for us. He had an awesome season last year. If Mo hadn't been re-signed, Mac would have gotten killed by the media and fan base. So you think Mac should have not re-signed Mo and traded Sheldon? Mac would have been absolutely killed for destroying the one strong unit we had. That makes zero sense. You're looking at it from a hindsight perspective.

You don't pay a NT $10 million a year. That would totally destroy the team's salary structure.

This isn't a popularity contest. Mac knew that when he took the job and it comes with the territory. All moves as a GM will be second guessed. It's his job to make the right moves. Who cares what the fans and media think? If he wins all that second guessing goes bye bye.

You do realize all this smoke about the Jets D Line being this unstoppable force looks pretty stupid in retrospect. While on the subject of Mo last summer, you failed to mention that he was coming off a broken leg which was a big red flag in giving him that huge contract. You're acting like teams around the league fear the Jets D Line when in reality it's nothing more than pretty strong against the run and very average in every other aspect.

We still do not have a true pass rusher on this roster and yet we have all this money tied up in the overrated D Line. That's disgraceful and that is on Mac and so is the Sheldon situation.

Mac is on the hot seat whether you believe it or not and rightfully so. He needs to have an A grade draft this year, anything less and a bad season next year and he's adios.

No, it's not a popularity contest, but when your owner is a doofus and is greatly influenced by the media and fans, any intelligent GM is going to take that into consideration. He's also not going to not re-sign one of the best young players on the team if he can help it.

While the DL may not be some unstoppable force, Mo did have a pretty high number of sacks and pressures last season, Richardson had a pretty good number the year before, and Williams got a lot of pressures, and not very many sacks, but showed a lot of potential. The problem is that in a 3-4 D alignment most of the pressure is designed to come from the OLB spots, not the DL. Rex was the moron that started building the team the wrong way. Leonard Williams was a slam dunk pick. The only way Mac could have not taken him was if some team blew him away with a trade offer, and no one did. I would have preferred the pick go elsewhere, but he got a very good player.

Mo's broken leg was NOT a red flag. A broken leg usually heals quickly and there are no lasting effects.

When your team has a ton of holes, you don't dismantle the one strong unit you have on your team in order to try to fix other holes. The idea of not re-signing Mo and trading Sheldon is stupid. No GM in his right mind would have done that.

I've said for the last couple of years that too much money was tied up in the DL and have been clamoring for a pass-rushing OLB for at least 10 years. Tell me this...who was the great pass rushing OLB that Mac passed up in the draft of FA? He can't draft what's not there.

Just because you think he's on the hot seat doesn't make it so.

Yannick Ngakoue. Instant impact rush end who came dirt cheap and could have been had in the 2nd round instead of reaching for Hack. Ngakoue was there and Mac whiffed...again.

As some others have stated, both Bowles and Mac inherited a 4-12 team with not much talent. The Jets went 10-6 last year due to a weak schedule and key veterans playing above expectations- Fitzpatrick, Marshall, Revis, Mangold etc.

The thing right now concerning to me is Bowles, he just not seem to be getting better as a head coach, time management, mid game adjustments, no fight in the team etc. We definitely can't get rid of Mac-he deserves another year. Bowles I personally would keep, but I would not be surprised if he is fired.

You make a couple points but you are laying it on way too thick. reading your post makes it seem like Mac hasn't done anything to help this team.

    You seem to be forgettibg:

    Brandon Marshall
    Matt Forte
    Carpenter
    ASJ
    Peake, Anderson,
    Lee
    Jenkins

Mac has added some pieces to help build this team. Some veterans such as Fitz, Revis, and Clady played well for us for a time. We also have two young QBs that might just turn out to be great.

I'd say it's quite a big stretch to call Burris a nice piece. Guy has played a lot in the last 2 games and given up touchdowns in both of em.

He is playing hard and since nobody else is, he stands out, but that doesn't mean he is any good. he is not

The only saving grace for Mac is we are not in cap hell. The Jets can quickly get out of some bad deals without too much cap penalty. We will be able to make some moves in free agency again.

The wilk deal is quickly looking like a bad deal, maybe partly due to terrible coaching; getting the most out of players, holding players accountable; holding standards. Wilk chilled most this season.

Not dealing Sheldon before the deadline cost a higher pick. Sheldon is going to get zero return for the Jets now.

But the biggest weakness were overvaluing. Hackenberg was bad value 2nd round pick. Devin Smith bad value 2nd round pick. Fitz 12mil was overvalued. Revis 16mil was overvalued. Mac has caved to popular demands forefetting value for cheap headlines.

    Bowles & Mac should go

Mauldin was a little nicked up, but the main reason he was not playing is, TB and Rodgers wanted their best 4 defensive linemen in the game at the same time, so his playing time went down to accommodate Sheldon playing the OLB/DE position.

You gotta stop bringing up Forte as a positive. I'd thought it would be obvious by now that picking him up and playing him over Powell was stupid and a bad move...

And Revis was a terrible move, no defending that.
