    Well, my thinking was that everyone was studying hard for the game. I generally try to keep the cadence and some of the words from the original poem. So, sometimes they work well, but other times they don't.

    Incredible. Of course they're funnier when we are bad. I was laughing hysterically at the 2014 edition.

    Happy holidays to all. I don't frequent the site as much as I used to, but I can't let Christmas go by without dropping something off for my friends at thegangreen.com. I wish you all a great holiday season and hope you aren't letting our team get you down.

    DBJ

    'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the Meadowlands
    Not a creature was stirring, especially Jet fans;
    The paper bags were hung on their heads with care,
    Trying to be faithful, but it was too much to bear;

    This season was putrid and gave such a fright,
    Recalling visions of a past team run by Rich Kotite;
    And mamma in her Brady jersey, and I in my Jets cap,
    It was time to prepare for another Christmas mishap,

    When out on the lawn there arose such a noise,
    I sprang from the couch while trying to keep my poise.
    Away to the window I flew like a wide-out,
    Tore open the shutters and cast out my doubt.

    I shielded my face to fight off the glare
    There was a lustre of green engulfing my lair,
    When, what to my wondering eyes was at my door,
    But a living legend, and eight QBs of yore,

    With a bit of a limp, and a smile that was silly,
    I knew in a moment it must be Joe Willie!
    Less impressive, his companions one-by-one came,
    And he turned, and signaled, and called them by name;

    "Now, VINNY! now, BOOMER! now, PENNY and O’BRIEN!
    On, BUBBY! on NAGLE! on, SANCHEZ and RYAN!
    Off the top of my head I remembered their fall.
    It was intercept! Intercept! Intercept all!"

    As I watched them before me I started to cry,
    Joe Willie turned to me frowning and asked me why,
    So I told what he must already know,
    This team needs a quarterback that doesn’t blow.

    And then, in a twinkling, he gave me a nod
    Then heard a rustling that seemed rather odd.
    As I drew in my breath, and was turning around,
    Down the chimney Mike MacCagnan came with a bound.

    He was dressed in a suit, with a green Jets tie,
    But a little disheveled, with bags under each eye;
    He said not a word, no need to confess,
    It was obvious to all the QB situation was a mess.

    His eyes – how they lacked any bit of glitz
    How could it have gone so badly after resigning Fitz?
    I told him it wasn’t management’s biggest sin
    But rather the coach claiming he was our best chance to win;

    He sat down beside me and gave a big sigh
    And said, “I get that, buy clearly Geno isn’t the guy”;
    As I glowered, he shifted and got a little sweaty,
    He knew that the fans wanted to see more of Petty.

    I asked him why should the fans have any more hope
    He said “Romo or Cutler?” but I shook my head, “nope”;
    “Look on my lawn, no one was the savior!
    An occasional flicker, then Same Old Jets behavior!”;

    He spoke not a word, and followed Joe to leave,
    I could only hope there was something up his sleeve
    He turned to me suddenly and gave me a wink
    But I just shook my head and poured myself a drink;

    Rooting for this team, you need an iron will,
    And as they left my home, I got a little chill
    I heard Mike exclaim, trying to give me some cheer,
    MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL, AND WE’LL DRAFT ANOTHER QB NEXT YEAR!

    It's here! The yearly amazing poem.

    Just as good as every year DBJ, maybe even your best work in the last few years. I could vision the events occurring.

    Awesomely sad and hilarious at the same time - not an easy combination to pull off. Well done, again...
