U must have a brain that works in reverse. I am the one who warned U that Woody was a incompetent
& that he his organization sucked big time. Nobody listen & look where we are today a dormat of the NFL with a idiot owner, GM & HC. In case U R going to flame me remember at the end of this season Woody's record will be 0-18:mad:

Sure try a garbage team or a disappointing team or a cellar dweller team. I could go on & I but I am sure U have my drift as far as the ability of Todd, Woody & surely I did not draft Dak Mike so all 3 of them IMHO R knuckleheads of the highest order. If U have a different HO then U R surely entitled to it but I assure U that 5 years from now with the present owner, GM & HC we will still be a bottom dwelling team

    Again, thanks for the link!

When I read this in the Conclusion:

However, he has to do a better job at understanding defenses, because the 49ers were able to play mind games with him at times in this contest. He also has to develop better timing with Enunwa and Marshall, considering they are the two leading receivers for the Jets in terms of importance." ( - See more at: http://www.jetnation.com/2016/12/15...s-petty-crimes/#sthash.XDsSGQFG.82TfobjZ.dpuf)

my first thought is - "Isn't this going to get better as he plays more? And wouldn't he already be better if they had been playing him more?" I'm encouraged. And yes, I'm fully prepared for him to regress against the Fins because they're much better and have a lot more at stake than the Niners did, but I think if the Jets stick with him as much as they did with Fitz, he's going to be fine, maybe much better than fine. At least that's my hope.

Your welcome! And I agree with you 100%. This guys analysis is excellent. His play by play commentary with the gif files really helped me see and understand how Petty was doing, and I was encouraged by it. I think he could have a tough game against the Dolphins, but that shouldn't deter anybody, as long as he makes plays and learns from his mistakes. It was really cool to see how Petty was able to make quick read sideline throws from the OPPOSITE hashmark. The kid has a cannon, and as he practices more with Enunwa and Marshall we should see some great plays and more TD's coming.

I don;t think you can simply compare their physical make up and what system they played under. If you just want to do that, then the comparison to Favre is just as accurate. The real substance of their make up isn't easily measured - it's in their minds. The difference between a HOF QB like Favre - or ANY HOF QB - is that they think differently than most other players, and even differently than most coaches, so what they do, and how they do it is unique to them, and they probably couldn't tell you how.

Here's an interesting article about Favre, but it's really more about how to tell if a QB has "IT". It's about Brain Typing, using the Myers-Briggs test. I wonder if Petty was given this, and if so, what his outcome was?

From what I've seen of both Petty and Geno, I think Petty has "IT", whereas Geno doesn't.

Several times the 9rs put heavy pressure on Petty from just rushing 3, which is an absolutely disgrace - completely on the offensive line. Petty definitely could have shown some better pocket awareness in spots, but it all starts with the blocking up front.

That's a lot of the amounts of sacks Geno took in his first 10 NFL games. I'm not sure that's a fair assessment yet.

I'm starting to warm up to Bryce. I really like the way the team rallied around him, and he's done some good things with his arm. I'd really like to see him develop an upward trend with his pocket awareness and decision making over these next 3 games, I'd be very optimistic if he does. I still think it's more likely that he's Matt Simms 2.0 than a franchise QB, but these next couple weeks will clear a lot more up.

More full field reads and less sacks and I'll be excited.

No wrong in warming up to him. I saw immediately last year that he had the skills, but there's also no reason to expect anything of him, so you're correct in your later assessment.

People are fans in different ways.

Philly StackZ probably has him in the HOF.

Br4d uses averages and flat stats that don't tell you anything to evaluate the NFL.

junc uses the eye test as long as he's wearing the darkest pair of green goggles he can find.

I have begun to hate the Jets, so I'll just expect them to fail even while I continue to watch, and if they ever start to succeed, ever, I'll enjoy it, even when the cadre of pea-dicked twerps that run around trying to say they predicted the success try to throw it in my face.

    Fuck the Jets.

It bothers me that he went against the 32nd ranked defense, the only one that's given up 30+ PPG and over 400 yards per game, and needed overtime to put up 20 points and took 6 sacks in the process. Some of the chances he took might wind up being picks against competent defenses. But honestly, there's not much hope in the way of QB in our future so the only thing to do is look for the positives and hope for the best.

Saturday, with 2 full weeks as the starter and a primetime game against a decent team, will be a much better indicator of things to come. I hope like hell he looks good.

But I'm not looking forward to the posts about Gailey not scheming wide open receivers and paralyzing opposing pass rushes every time Petty makes a bad play.

This is a key point to keep in mind. Our OL statistically has the reputation of being ok at run blocking but definitely subpar on pass blocking.
