http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/f...rth-carolina-mitch-trubisky-article-1.2910818 I haven't watched UNC this year, so I have no idea what this kid looks like on the field. I'll certainly check out UNC in the Sun Bowl on Dec. 30. Does anyone have an opinion on him? Would we want this team to spend another pick,(and a first this time!) on yet another QB? What are everyone's thoughts?
Its too early for this talk...Kid needs to show something in combine and whatever else before we can think about drafting him. Some desperate team will probably pick a QB top 5...I am going to bank that it will be Cleveland. They screwed it up last year
Unless the Jets can trade up to the top 1 or 2 slot, I don't think they can get him, and I don't think the teams ahead of them will be tempted to swap.
There's no way this holds any weight. The new regime has been notorious for not leaking anything whatsoever with respect to the draft even in the waning days before it. Now you want to tell me Manish Mehta has their master plan 5 MONTHS ahead of it? Yawn. Love the player though, it'd be great if we did get him.
I'm not completely sold on him although he does seem to have the tools. His arm is definitely a question mark as he seems to float the ball at times. I was on the train early, but he's another guy that needs developmental red-shirt time IMO. If we take a quarterback I think it needs to be a guy that plays from day 1. We already our hands full with Hackenberg in the not ready to play department.
I hope we focus on OL/DB and give Petty/Hack a year or 2 to bed in and show what they have!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I really like Mitch but I don't think this is the year for us to take a QB. Personally I want to see Mitch in college for another year but in a weak QB class he might be the first taken. Next year Josh Rosen, Sam Darnold, Lamar Jackson, Jake Browning could all potentially come out. Not to mention guys like Austin Allen, Josh Allen, Eric Dungey and Trace McSorley if they make the next step. It's time to rebuild our infrastructure in the OL and secondary to give us a chance to win some games. If our young guys aren't able to get it done there should be some really good guys coming out at QB in the next 2 years.
Agreed. Jackson and Rosen have all the tools to be long-time franchise QB's in the league. It would truly be a game changer if the Jets were able to grab either of them. With a top 5 pick this year in each round, we can address OL, RB, Secondary in good fashion.
The first time I saw him I coveted him for us. Fair to say he needs work and would be a gamble as a high pick prolly. Still holding out hope for Petty, and Hack too. Damn, pick Trubisky too wthell..... And an edge rusher while they're at it
I find it hard to believe that some douchebag 'rival scout' gave Mehta this hot lead. It wreaks of bullshit. It's times like these that certain reporters should have to reveal their sources. Especially guys like Mehta whom are notoriously not credible at all.
I would much rather let Petty and Hackenberg battle it out for the job next preseason And if neither of those guys show anything, perhaps they'll be in position to draft the top QB on the board in 2018
yes, spend every #1 pick we get until we get a franchise QB because in case you haven't figured it out you won't win a title without one.
