When you think about it there is so much pressure on a rookie QB to be an instant Wentz or Prescott Keep on growing Bryce ! prove them all wrong!
Prescott isn't struggling. He won 11 in a row and lost bookend to the Giants..I wish we had a qb who could do that.
Very cool. I guess the vets really haven't checked out just yet. I'm tellin ya, Petty has that "it" factor. I may be his biggest fan on this board and I'm really happy for this classy, hardworking young man. He's gonna be a good one in this league. Perhaps for us, perhaps for some other team. You never know but I have a feeling there's no quit in Bryce Petty! WTG Kid!
I share your view, but having been down this long, ugly road, albeit with different characters, I am cautiously optimistic. If nothing else, these games count, against defenses that are in fact game planning, so no more, "playing against grocery baggers and vanilla defenses"
I'm not that confident in him, but despite the opponent, the kid threw a horribly telegraphed interception on the second play from scrimmage and battled back to win the game and still win the ball game. It was fun and he was having fun out there. I remember Bollinger and McElroy games where they checked down all game long and would finish with 168 yards passing on 28 completions and 4 first downs. Those two players didn't have the speed at receiver we have now, even if it's unproven. Petty did that his first game then likely realized that's no way to win a starting job in the NFL. Let it fly. He also looks to makes plays throwing on the run. It's cool and fun to see Give the receivers a chance to make a play down the field. Sometimes at the very least you can draw a foul. Imagine Petty to Anderson becomes a staple for the Jets. Knowing what I know about this franchise I highly doubt it, but it'd be cool. Not all big time receivers are high draft picks. Oh and put Anderson on HGH.
He's an extreme long shot to turn into anything, but if you're going on odds, all but the sure-thing guys who only pan out 1-10th of the time have low odds, so who knows. It's nice to have a shred of hope for somebody during a season this bad, though. Especially when guys like Revis and Mo seem content with mailing it in.
You mean winning 11 straight games and then barely losing to a division rival who has been known for dominant defense for the past decade? We should be so lucky. Fucking guy was a 4th round pick.
Count me in....If we let him go after this season it will be a big mistake that will haunt us for years. There is something about his demeanor that says winner. Now, the real question is..do we have the staff to groom this kid and put him in a position to be successful?
So, if the kid plays well against Miami, what excuses will be surfaced by the naysayers? Miami sucks without Tanny, The game was meaningless, wait till NE, he should have been intercepted a bunch of times, oh let me count the ways. I for one I'm pulling hard for this kid. He has the look, the drive, the passion and the arm. Give him an OL like Dallas, a solid running game, and watch him flourish.
Let's calm down everyone. If Phil Dawson had made one of his field goals, we would have lost, and Petty would be a bum.
Right now he honestly is a bum. But he's a bum that's fun to watch in this dreadful season. We may not have won many more games with him under center but it would've been fun to watch and we would've had a chance to really see if he's developing. Instead we barely have enough time to see if he's good enough to be the 2017 backup and will be going into next year completely blind. Brilliant! Scenario; let's say Petty finishes with say around 1,100 yards passing, 10-11 touchdowns to say 6-7 picks on 60-62% passing. Do we go into 2017 with a competition between him and Hack to be the starter or do we look elsewhere to a Mike Glennon type or draft Watson, or take one of the Air Raid quarterbacks in the 3rd-5th round and just compile mid round young quarterbacks praying one turns into the anointed one? Do we re-sign Geno and pray he puts it all together? This scenario is exactly what none of us wanted and the reason why at the very least he should've been starting from the Rams game til the end of the season.
Got me a little more pumped about the kid! Always been hopeful that he would accel given the chance. Really looking forward to seeing how he grows with a string of starts.
Chicken and egg. If Petty doesn't stare down Enunwa on that first pass, maybe the Jets march down the field and start a scoring bonanza on SF. Discounting the actual facts of the game doesn't make the game different.
