This team played there best last year when Powell was playing the majority then for some reason they benched him this year while Forte was getting the bulk in average fashion. Powell should get the bulk of the playing time from here on out.

That's BS. Both he and Powell were going to do well today, because SFs D stinks.

Fuck off with that. Gailey loves inside runs. Forte runs inside like he's in quicksand. He's an outside runner.

We would have lost 17-0 without Powell beasting on that team.

I have been wanting to see more Powell his entire career, I don't get it.

The fuck are you talking about?

Forte has been a guy that will take the inside runs if you give him dynamic passing routes and edge runs to really make his career.

Gailey doesn't know how to use him just like he doesn't know how to use tight ends. He's an old man with old man ideas.

Forte could have been so dynamic for this team. Wake up, the way he has been used is idiotic. Look at his face after every stupid inside run. He always looks pissed off. He knows his strength. Gailey tries to use him to further a bad gameplan.

The guy is a perimeter runner with pass catching ability. They are so one dimensional in the way they use him.

    It's tragic.

Same here. This team sucks at exploiting talent.

    Plus they suck.

    And are stupid.

Thats pretty much what the fuck I am talking about.

Forte is the guy you want if you actually plan for and have the players to scheme for him. He's not the guy you hand the rock to and ask him to move the pile.

Forte up the gut is the most depressing play of the season (3rd and long screen is close tho;).

Powell is one of our best players, that being said we all have been calling for Forte and Powell at the same time, so of course after Forte gets hurt they put Powell and the new kid in the back field at the same time

Westhoff said it again yesterday put them both in at the same time then shift Forte out wide on a LB and exploit it down the field

I underestimated Powell and he impressed me this week. I am not sure about Powell's durability but as Forte puts more miles on his engine, Powell is emerging as the better back. With that being said, I would hold onto both guys until we draft a RB that can challenge for the #1 job.

Hey Guys how many WINS do we have with Forte startin????

Betcha we double that if Powell takes 20 carries

Forte aint bad and he cost us ...So the FO "has" to use him

PLAY THE GUY WHO CAN WIN US MORE GAMES

    Nothing personal Forte just football

I will probably get kicked in the stomach for this so to speak but the jets need to be more like the pats in using players where they will succeed the most. Forte has his strengths ....receiving for the most part. Powell has more at this point. But both can excel if used properly...this coaching staff does not seem to agree with this "strategy"

Fuck the Pats, but you're exactly right. We are constantly trying to shove a square peg into a round hole instead of adapting to maximize what we can get out of players.

Yeah, playing against a team that's 1-12 had nothing to do with it. Tell me where SF is here:

A part of me wishes that Forte is done for the year... Not that I want to see anyone hurt.(except for Brady). Powell is a stud. I'd like to see him start and have Khiry as his compliment.

I like Powell, and had always hoped he would become something like the next Ladanian Tomlinson. However, if he had that capacity in his skill set, I expect we'd have seen it by now. Remember for 2 years Chris Ivory was almost always dinged up, and there was plenty of opportunity for him to step in and take over. Didn't happen. IIRC, Schottenheimer, Morninwheg (sp?) and Sparano all had the opportunity to find something like that and didn't. And let's also consider that San Francisco's D (currently ranked at the bottom of the NFL) spent the whole week prepping for Forte as RB1, and on-field adjustments are probably not their strength - if they even have one. However if this game becomes the springboard for Powell to step into stardom, I'd be tremendously pleased to see it happen. But all those reasons we're a 4-9 team didn't suddenly turn to vapor.

Regardless of how Forte plays the rest of this season, who we draft, or how Forte plays next season, we may be stuck with him through the 2017 season as we would take an additional $1 miillion cap hit on top of his $6 million salary/cap hit.

What? Not use the OC's system? He has to be creative, adjust to the talent on hand, and put players in a position to succeed? What a concept! ;)

Seriously, good post. Anyone who kicks you in the stomach for that post, should get kicked in the head (maybe it would knock some sense into them).

Powell does seem to be the better back...Forte is quite valuable as well if used correctly. He is no longer explosive to get the long runs and the broken tackles Powell does but Forte is excellent as a receiver out of the backfield.

Being "stuck" with Forte is the least of our problems. Many teams have two or even three good RBs.
