Cimini reporting the same. http://www.espn.com/blog/new-york-j...ach-todd-bowles-not-as-hot-as-you-might-think Probably, Gailey will be out.
Ian Rapoport @RapSheet From @NFLGameDay: #Jets not inclined to clean house with coach Todd Bowles. But expect a very different team with many big-money vets gone
An in house name to consider would be Karl Dorrell.. He has Denver/ Shanahan connection. Former UCLA head coach. If he goes outside, I have no idea
Ian Rapoport @RapSheet Major #Jets focus for the offseason: Leadership. There’s a major void among the players. As #NYJ settles into its rebuild, it’s important. So, rebuild will be started.
"The way many see it, Johnson would be punishing them for the sins of previous regimes if he sacks one or both. The Jets’ talent is poor, in large part, because only five current starters remain from the 2008 to 2014 drafts: Muhammad Wilkerson, Brian Winters, Quincy Enunwa, Calvin Pryor and Sheldon Richardson. That’s it. That’s bad. Maccagnan tried the quick-fix approach last year, bringing in older players, but that only prolonged the inevitable swoon. He called it a "competitive rebuild." That sounds nice in the boardroom, but it's difficult to execute. The upside was that it created a winning culture and credibility -- they almost made the playoffs -- but you need to win to sustain that culture and credibility. Now they're having the kind of year that many expected them to have last year. Still, it would be rash for Johnson to dump the coach after only two years. Barring a change of heart, he won't."
Im fine with keeping Mac but Bowles is awful and should go.....he has shown absolutely nothing this season to the point where he deserves to be fired.....
Rich perfectly summarized my long winded thread into 2 paragraphs. I guess that's why he gets the big bucks. I'm actually really excited to see this team start over with the young talent it's been stockpiling. These next four games should be fun to watch if they let them play like I think they will. We're starting a new era in Jets football for better or for worse. As far as the "leadership" tweet goes, I think we'll be fine. One of the things Mac has obviously focused on in the draft is bringing in young, high character guys. Listen to interviews by Jordan Jenkins, Darron Lee, Jalin Marshall, Hack/Petty, Mauldin, etc. These guys are all so classy and mature for their age, it's just hard to be respected as a leader when you aren't playing and when there are so many vets on the team. Once guys like Revis, Mangold, Marshall and eventually Harris are purged, the new draftees will look up to guys like Lee as the next generation of Jets "leaders".
I hope Mangold / Harris comes back at a reduced rate, but I think the Jets could absolutely live without Revis, Fitz, Sheldon and Marshall. If true, this is the right approach.
As predicted, Bowles isn't going anywhere next year. Now Gailey OTOH, can't get him out the door quick enough!
Please, God, no. The most competitive aspect of this team will be who can be more monotone, boring and unenthused, Bowles or Dorrel.
So make Gailey and or the DC and or the ST coaches scapegoats, get rid of 1 or all 3 of them and all is well ? Sorry folks Bowels is a very bad coach and sadly we will have to watch him for another half or full season until he is fired. Coaches in time can become good but Bowels shows no improvement and as I have said since the last game of the season against Buffalo last year is in over his head. ps Mikey Mac has lost a ton of my faith,,,,,,and it would take an excellent Free agency / Draft next year to make me a believer in this guy .
haha..yeah, an 0-16 team and then they will all be fired..just have to be humiliated another year before the inevitable. oh, and they still won't get a franchise qb even then.
