I know both of them are listed over 190lbs, but wow, they always seem to get themselves outmuscled on contested catches. Robby Anderson is 6-3, 190 but looks and plays more like 170. Smith is 6-1, 198. He looks more like 165 than 198. Maybe its their body type that makes them look smallish however, up against the bigger, stronger more physically mature DB's and Safties they looked hopelessly overmatched. On short routes they're not gonna break many tackles for YACS either. As a reference, Bryce Petty is 6-3, 230 and looks like the jolly green giant compared to these guys.

Point being, this offseason they both need to add muscle if they're gonna play in the NFL. They may be fast, but there's gonna be times when pure strength will win the day.

100% agree. I also think B. Marshall probably cut too much in the offseason. As a dominant contested-catch receiver, cutting that muscle weight did not help him.

I've been thinking the same thing about Anderson all season. The guy never catches a contested ball, and that's a big problem. It's very frustrating watching him put catchable ball after catchable ball on the ground. Most decent NFL receivers would hold onto 90% of the passes he can't handle.

I'm on the verge of saying I'm ready to move on from him. His body type just doesn't work well in today's NFL. For Christ's sake --- he's barely bigger than Jeane Coakley in the post game interview. I'll take a guy like Brandon Marshall or Braylon Edwards over a one-dimensional speedster 100 out of 100 times.

Sooo much this. " well brandon you had a record breaking year last year for us so now I want you to cut weight so it's harder for you to grab those contested balls" - Turlit Bowles

And I would agree about Anderson but I don't think he needs a crazy amount of weight maby like 10-15 pounds just enough so he's not bullied around. I'm still without a doubt on his bandwagon though lol

Yeah I lost count how many times Robbie had the ball only for it to get swatted out.

Agreed And I have been making this point also. Anderson is constantly getting the ball ripped from his hands. He's no Chrebet or Victor Cruz.

This is why he was undrafted. Now think about all the times he's been open and Petty or Fitz hasn't been able to hit him for the TD.

Your right, if the QBs had passed the ball accurately he would have 7 or 9 TDs for the season and we wouldn't care that he gets it ripped out of his hands every so often.

There are few CBs that can keep up with Anderson, give him a year to develope and we will have 2 good receivers in Enunwa and Anderson.

Some of our "fans" kill me. We get a young player with tons of speed and potential and some "fans" rip them apart, looking for every possible flaw and call them busts and wanting to get rid of them. I've never seen a more impatient group of people in my life, and I seriously think some of our "fans" never want to see the team succeed. No one is good enough or pleases them. They pick apart every young player with potential the Jets manage to get.

Totally agree. Anderson needs to get bigger, and I'll admit I was wrong in thinking he was OK at his playing weight earlier this season. He gets tossed around when going up to catch contested balls.

The best receivers are generally big bodied receivers (Evans, Julio, Cooper, Green, Larry Fitz, etc.). The smaller guys like AB and Odell can be successful with their elite quickness, but they're still compact in their shorter height (5'11", 195 for Odell, 5'10", 186 for AB).

Anderson is way too lanky. Give the kid some HGH and he could be a real good one. I hope to see some more of Charone Peake moving forward. He seems like he could hold up in said contested balls.

It's really a miracle to think what was a weakness for a long while in our receiving corp, could realistically be our only strength next year. It's exciting when thinking about developing a young quarterback as they have young talented receivers to grow with.

It's not ripping them apart, it's a valid critique. Anderson will not last in this league if he doesn't add on some pounds to go with his speed. A guy like Bernard Berrian comes to mind.

On the flip side - if our QB can hit him in stride on a majority if the times that Anderson was wide open streaking down the field who cares how many balls he has ripped from his hands?

8 of those completions a season completely changes the complexion if an offense.

Robbie Anderson is an UDFA no one had even heard of before the preseason. He made the team and has made a few nice plays this season. Yeah, he needs to put on weight, but he definitely has been a + this season. Good story.

I'd like to see them both come into 2017 somewhere between 215 and 220. Assuming they're gonna lose weight during TC and preseason, that should put them at around 210 and if that's all muscle, they'll be better off and so will the Jets. I'm thinking mostly they need to improve on their upper body strength.
