I think you'll find a LOT of Colts fans going. It's no longer a division rival but back when it was even before Peyton joined them I was constantly bombarded with requests for my extra tix from local Colts fans. Back then the rivalries imho in order of rivalry strength (pre- Peyton and pre- Shady) 1) Dolphins 2) Colts, 3) Bills 4 ) Pats. You can swap 3 and 4 depending on the era.. During Parcells era with Pats Bills were 4) during Bills SB runs Pats were 4).
Again, as long as Woody is the owner, any other changes may not make a difference. I'm not privy to what he says to Maccagnan, Bowles, et. al., or what he's said in the past to his GMs, Presidents, HC's, but with all the changes he's made, he's the one common denominator in this picture, so whatever he's saying/doing is a big part of the problem. You can says it's only with hindsight we can say he's made bad choices, but shouldn't an owner have enough knowledge to have FOREsight? He's got all the statistics and information available, and the money to go with it. He should have good support personnel and advisors to help him, yet despite all this, he continues to make the wrong choices. Why? Why do teams like the Patriots, Steelers, Cowboys, Broncos, Packers, Giants, 49'ers win on a consistent basis over the years, while the Jets consistently lose? Again, the common denominator seems to me to be clueless ownership. I got crucified by some here for suggesting that the reason he makes bad choices is money, and I admit that since I haven't been privy to his decision-making process, I don't know if that's why, but the adage, "Follow the money" often proves to be the answer. Or maybe he's just clueless, and knows just enough to be dangerous, inserting himself into decisions when he should just stay out of things. Whatever the reason or reasons, as long as he owns the team and involves himself in the decisions, they're not going to win. So maybe what might work is for him to hire a true football guy to run the team, overseeing all aspects. It should be guy who knows football and what it takes to win, and not a bean-counter. Is someone like that available? Would Woody agree to hire him and step away? I don't know, but if that can't happen, I'm hoping that he sells the team to someone who can finally make the Jets into a winning organization. Short of that - which I realize is just wishful thinking - I vote to fire Bowles for all the reasons given by NCJetsfan already. Keep Maccagnan for now, unless someone better suddenly becomes available. Play Petty. Bench/cut the players who aren't performing. In the offseason get a stud RB. Get a TE who can catch and actually throw it to him once in a while to keep the defense guessing. Get a stud pass rusher. The one thing I DO know, is I'm tired of the losing.
Agreed. And its why I dont get not playing Petty. Simple logic: Do you have a franchise QB starting for you now? NO Do you have a franchise QB on your bench? MAYBE. WE DONT KNOW! Solution: START YOUR BENCH QB2 (Petty). Re ask the question: Do you have a franchise QB starting for you now? NO Do you have a franchise QB on your bench? MAYBE. WE DONT KNOW! Solution: START YOUR BENCH QB3 (Hackenberg). Re ask the question: If the answer is still no, RECRUIT or DRAFT FRANCHISE QB. Right now, its just a cloud of unknowing.
