There's no doubt that race has played a factor in the shooter being released, but it doesn't mean the shooter shot McKnight because of race or that the shooter was the initiator in the violence. What exactly sickens you?

What sickens me is the media bombards us with the constant messages that we are all enemies. Is it any wonder we treat each other like enemies? Then the media publishes claims that they never verify that serve merely to continue to get us to treat each other like enemies.

You can claim that the police are lying when they say the shell casings were in the shooters car, that he shot McKnight fro inside his own car, and he never stood over him and shot him, but it's up to you to support that claim. It is also up to you to claim why you believe anonymous eyewitnesses that claim otherwise. Hands up, don't shoot!

You argue that we are not all enemies, while simultaneously arguing in favor of someone who gunned down an unarmed man during a driving-related incident. Certainly, the shooter viewed McKnight as an enemy worthy of the death penalty, whether you feel it was justified or not.

I'm not claiming anything about what the police said, nice straw man. If you feel his testimony and the physical evidence exonerate him, then let him go before a jury, just like Will Smith's shooter will.

McKnight, 28, was out of his car and was "positioned at the passenger window" of Gasser's Infinity when Gasser, seated in the driver's seat, fired three rounds from a .40-caliber weapon through the open passenger window hitting McKnight, according to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office.

I mean if I really wanted to hurt someone, I would def go towards the direction of the passenger side right? It's a shame these things happen

Yeah, it is really unfortunate. Rule #1 don't ever get out of your car.

He could have rolled up his window and locked the doors. Seems pretty unjustified to be fearing for his life right away, unless Joe made an advance. Things do happen quickly.

What if Joe accidentally side-swapped the car by accident, got out the car and wanted to see if the person was OK / got info? Are we that defensive as humans?

I thought the early reports were he was apologizing to the guy.

No, I didn't argue in his favor. Nice Strawman back at you. I asked you specifically what sickened you, racially, about this situation? My inquiry to your reasoning doesn't mean I don't think Grasser perceived McKnight as an enemy so your attempt to question that is a false comparison to boot. You lead the logical fallacy competition 2-1.

I certainly don't agree with him being released and he should absolutely go before a grand jury. If the races were reversed in an exact situation the black shooter would still be in jail. But I don't think that is the issue you are referring to as sickening when you reference "these incidents". Where are the other examples of these incidents if your sickening reaction is only in regards to incarceration prior to being charged.

But nothing about the shooting can simply be chalked up to racism at this point.

I just don't see how defense is a reasonable argument. His fear may have been justified but three shots seems excessive absent of an immediate threat and I don't see how he was an immediate threat from the passenger window that Grasser had no other way to escape other than shooting him.

Yeah. It doesn't matter how right you are either. You give up cover and a chance to get away. There's a lot of fucked up assholes with attitudes driving aggressively out there.

I think his point is that it sickens him that the shooter is walking, just as that sickens you

He shouldn't have gotten out of the car, but he doesn't deserve to die for it.

We don't know what truly happened, but it appears the shooting as a whole could've been completely avoided. The driver clearly thought Joe was a threat in some sort of way, did anyone confirm the guy had insurance? Maybe he didn't want to deal with that, we don't know ... but its truly a shame

If you get into a car accident, you don't stay in the car do you? Don't you normally ask the other person for insurance and information? Why would you stay in the car? IDK, maybe I am missing something in the investigation.

We all know how this ends. There won't be any charges or changes. This is the way it is these days. Anyone that does not possess a gun is at a deadly disadvantage. Anyone investing in the body armor industry stands to make a killing over the next few years.

Of course. I'm sick over it too. And outraged

But it really is important to remember and tell people. I'm reinforcing that separate from the incident.
