He'll always be a polarizing figure, but no love lost. He was a horrible, murdering scumbag. Again, stories for later. I cracked up when he was on his death bed for the millionth time in '06. He flew in medical equipment and specialists from Spain because no-one in Cuba knew what they were doing and they didn't have the ability to treat him for a stomach bleed. That was hilarious to me. The relationship between Cubans themselves about the U.S. is highly, highly complicated, and again, I don't excuse our role in any of it. But. Fukk. That. Guy.
The U.S. didn't want him in power. They were playing two against the middle. They were trying to preserve their financial interests first and foremost, and Batista had become a liability with his outright horrific corruption. The U.S. started to back away in their support of Batista, tried to negotiate with Castro and perhaps introduce a moderate leader, but when they saw how left leaning Castro was and how much he was lying through his teeth, the rest is history. Castro 1, U.S. 0. The bottom line is that every government lies and is full of shit, but at the end of the day, Castro is a still a huge POS. He did THAT part on his own. What's next, the Nobel Peace Prize? I hope someone takes a dump on his ashes.
Yeah no they definitely wanted him in power. They wanted Bautista out. Sent from my SM-N930V using Tapatalk
In the 1950's U.S. companies owned most and in some cases nearly all of entire industries in Cuba and was also by far the country's largest importer. Why would you think the U.S. government desired to throw that all away to a communist? please explain to us why you think your nonsense would even be close to true.
Maybe you should actually study history. The us wanted Bautista out. Castro was their hero. They thought they could deal with him. And for his part Castro absolutely said the right things. It wasn't until after he was in power he really became what he was. This isnt a debate, it's what happened. Castro used to frequently make trips to the US. So........ Yeah. it was journalists that invited him to this country. Jetophile already gave the history lesson. "Castro was their hero" . LOL come on man
Except he was spending tome with the politicians in the US. Ask Charles Rangel, who even said after Castros death essentially that he and the government had no problems with him. Sent from my SM-N930V using Tapatalk
No shit, but he was there when castro came. He wa sjust on CNN saying all this and they called him specifically because he met Castro. Youre arguing a moot point. Bottom line is US wanted Bautista out, Castro wasnt a problem until Bautista was pretty much done. Then the US suddenly had a problem. They wanted Bautista out and were willing to support pretty much anyone willing to do so. Everything youre attempting to argue with me over supports this. Its what happened. Yeah pretty much all you can say. Always remember, if the US didnt want Castro in power before hand, he never would have been in power at all. They had ample opportunities to stop it and they didnt. Sent from my SM-N930V using Tapatalk
Youre a fucking retard. At no point did i ever say that moron. I said i dont give a fuck about communism. About the only thing it does is sell me cheap products online. Sent from my SM-N930V using Tapatalk
The CIA gave the 26th of July Movement $50,000, that was the extent of it. The CIA used to give just about any group like that a little money just in case they took power thinking they would have a foot in the door. Do you have any links that would back your assertion the U.S. wanted him in power? Everything I know about it would say no.
No-one is completely wrong in their assertions. We'll dish on Guevara soon. What concerns me most of all is celebrity knowledge about the branches of our gov't. Some Roman Senate thing, People, Judges. Go Hillary!
Not bad; I'd give you an A minus because it's really impossible to tell who would have hurt the Cuban people more in the long run, Batista or Castro.
Oh, please. Castro ftw. Another gripe of mine with Castro is that he named his Party The Communist Party of Cuba. He should've named it the The Pajama Party. What was he thinking?
