They had the #1 pick in the draft. Two sure fire Franchise QB's sat at the top of the draft. You don't pass that up for a 3rd round QB that can be above average. I don't think Glennon will be great. But he could be pretty darn good. Name me a QB with 30 TDs in his first 22 career games. I bet you would want him in a Jets uni.
where were all the trade offers to pull him away since he was clearly expendable after drafting Winston? If he had the chance to be above average you would think other teams would make offers.
I don't disagree with that whatsoever. There are definite question marks, but my thing is he's still young. did relatively well, and isn't Romo, Cutler, or any other high priced, brittle QB. I would roll the dice on Glennon before the others because what this team needs is a clear vision and not to revert to high priced old veterans for production.
Mike Glennon or Tony Romo.Romo gives us one more chance before we have to fully rebuild and clean house again. We have a veteran roster and Romo would fit in plus we have a ton of weapons for him to work with.Go with Romo if it fails blow it up fire Bowles and start from scratch.
Just read a few stories on him and apparently the GM said he never said he wanted a first but somehow that was misconstrued with the media. Seems like the Bucs at the very least the Bucs wanted a 2nd from what it seems and no team would even offer that. That's pretty alarming though because he is a free agent this offseason so if he walks, the Bucs essentially get next to nothing.
I can agree with that. At this point, what is there to lose? If they all feel Petty is as bad as they lead us to believe from what they see in practice, it can't hurt to turn the page and bring in someone younger. We all know Fitz is done here. The only exception would be to bring in Romo on a 1 year deal with some better free agent signings next year. If next year is still a rebuild, no point in wasting Romos time.
IMO Romo is far too injury prone to invest significant money in. I also think this team is less talented than we all anticipated and that is direct consequence of the many failed drafts by Tanny and Idzik
a lot. the dude is going to get paid. There were reports that Washington will franchise tag him again if they can't come up with something long term. He's making $20 Mill on the tag right now and a second year would require them to pay him 120% of that. So they are willing to pay him $24 Mill next year just to keep him. You know if he gets a long term contract its going to be huge.
Yeah but we had all these morons talking about how you are a bad fan if you wanted the team to lose those meaningless Titans and Dolphins games down the stretch that year. Do we even remember those now? I would kill for Winston right now
He wasn't expendable, he was a low cost/high upside back up QB. It would have taken a mind blowing offer to trade him away, the same situation now with Garoppolo in NE. Now that Glennon is about to become an UFA, the narrative changes.
