Wow, that was the equivalent of a verbal fatality. Henceforth, you shall be known as the Great Hipponax. Bravo Sir
look I despise the douchebag as much as anyone. But "impunity"? I guess it's the bullshit forum after all.
At this point, if you have something to "say", you may as well just post a link to the New Republic and be done with it.
At this point the entirety of Ron's posts are unlinked excerpts of opinion articles from his chosen pseudo news sites with him adding, you are all dummy stupid heads, at the end.
The Russian government was in touch with members of President-elect Donald Trump's political team during the U.S. election campaign and knows most of his entourage, one of Russia's most senior diplomats told the Interfax news agency on Thursday. Accused by defeated Democratic contender Hillary Clinton of being a puppet of President Vladimir Putin after praising the Russian leader, Trump has dismissed suggestions he had anything to do with the Russian government during the campaign. But in comments that could prove politically awkward for the president-elect, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said there had indeed been some communications. "There were contacts," Interfax cited Ryabkov as saying. "We are doing this and have been doing this during the election campaign." Such contacts would continue, he added, saying the Russian government knew and had been in touch with many of Trump's closest allies. He did not name names. "Obviously, we know most of the people from his (Trump's)entourage. Those people have always been in the limelight in the United States and have occupied high-ranking positions," he said. "I cannot say that all of them, but quite a few have been staying in touch with Russian representatives." Moscow was just beginning to consider how to go about setting up more formal channels to communicate with the future Trump administration, said Ryabkov. A spokeswoman for Trump did not immediately respond to a request for comment. http://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-election-russia-trump-idUSKBN1351RJ
They were in contact with the Clinton campaign also, I believe this is common practice during all Presidential campaigns but is now being reported on as something nefarious. It would make sense if leadership of the largest countries is changing that you would want to be in touch with the 2 possible leaders.
The contacts don't even matter really, but it is something to think about, especially since there appears to be some lying. But if one is worried about Russia, look at their policies. Trump's stances with the Syria conflict, with the TPP trade deal, his words for NATO allies, they all stand to benefit Russia. Not to mention the fact that he shockingly stated that Russia wasn't in the Crimea. Even if you don't look at relationships, its obvious which candidate was best for Russia
"On Sunday night, the president-elect of the United States declared that more than 2 million fraudulent votes had been cast in the election that elevated him to the presidency. “I won the popular vote,” Donald Trump tweeted in an angry response to Jill Stein’s swing state recount, “if you deduct the millions of people who voted illegally.” Some pundits once again insisted that this demonstrably false assertion was “just a distraction” to divert our attention from the real crises and scandals. That’s nonsense. One of the key crises facing the United States today is the Republican-led assault on voting rights. And whether or not he intended to, Trump just helped to lay the groundwork for a coming crackdown on suffrage across the country. Even worse, the court’s conservatives appear poised to revisit the Voting Rights Act and gut it once again, holding that it merely bars voting laws with discriminatory intent, not laws with discriminatory impact. Because it’s extraordinarily difficult to prove legislative intent, such a decision would render the VRA largely toothless. As Berman reminds us, Chief Justice John Roberts has yearned for this ruling since 1981; soon he’ll have the opportunity to write it himself. And he’ll be working in lockstep with Attorney General Jeff Sessions, who will likely use his immense power to prosecute voter registration groups and launch a witch hunt against phantom fraud while providing legal cover to states that diminish voting rights even further. The right to vote in the United States is about to enter a period of great peril—and the danger is not limited to one or two elections, before Democrats regain some power and yet again provide a counterweight. If Republicans coordinate this assault shrewdly enough, they can entrench their power indefinitely through voter suppression, remaining a majority party for decades even as their supporters represent a shrinking minority of the country. Trump may not know or care much about this long-term strategizing, but his congressional allies certainly do. And his baseless but explosive tweet can only help them build the pretext for a looming assault on voting rights that is simply without precedent in modern times." Ron
"The acute version is the emergence as president-elect of a man whose nature as a liar is outside what our institutions are designed to deal with. Donald Trump either cannot tell the difference between truth and lies, or he knows the difference but does not care. Tiniest example: On a single day during the campaign, Trump claimed that the National Football League had sent him a letter complaining that the presidential-debate schedule conflicted with NFL games (which the NFL immediately denied), and then he said the Koch brothers had begged him to accept their donations (which they also flat-out denied). Most people would hesitate before telling easily disprovable lies like these, much as shoplifters would hesitate if the store owner is looking at them. Most people are fazed if caught in an outright lie. But in these cases and others, Trump never blinked. As part of his indispensable campaign coverage this summer, David Fahrenthold (and Robert O’Harrow) of The Washington Post offered astonishing documentation of Trump being caught in a long string of business-related lies and simply not caring."
