There are more than 2 people in this world than Rex Ryan and Todd Bowles. It is possible they both suck.
Pretty much sums it up. Bowles almost makes me miss Rex. Almost. It's amazing how this organization manages to stink further and further into the depths of idiocracy. It's downright depressing.
What excuses am I making? The answer is easy. I'm NOT making any excuses. Bowles and Rex are unconnected. Rex sucked in his ways and Bowles sucks in his. You're delusional. You really need to take your mouth off of Rex privates, step back and get a grip on reality.
Rex didn't have the talent the last two years he had his first few years or that the Jets now, but he is partially responsible for that. He had heavy influence on the roster and draft. He got a draft pick each year when when Tanny was GM. He got rid of some players who were more talented than the ones he kept. So Rex was no victim as you're trying to portray him.
Maine: Your are entitled to your opinion, but I laughed when you wrote that Todd Bowles is "your (my) personal savior." Are you kidding? Check out any of my posts the last two months--I have posted several times that Todd Bowles is a monotone idiot totally clueless by playing a noodle armed journeyman who won't even be on the jets next year! I think Bowles should be fired NOW, not at the end of the season. But, unlike you, I do not think Rex should be the jets coach again. You constantly refer to Rex's first two seasons and ignore the last four when he did not have a winning record, including 6-10 and 4-12. You give him all the credit for 2009-2010, and then you blame everyone else for 2011-2014. Get past 2009-2010--Rex stunk the joint up for FOUR consecutive years after. You contend that the jet GMs gave him no talent thru the draft, but fail to explain why Rex with the bills picked up some of those losers after the jets cut them. I don't think Rex OR Bowles have done squat the last 6 years for the jets or bills--the jets need a new coach and IMO it is not Rex.
I am not ignoring one single thing about Rex Ryan's coaching career. He had great success in his 1st two seasons because he had talent. After the 1st two seasons he was forced to work with a slew of moron GM's that deprived him of the talent he needed to operate. I do NOT believe he was at fault for those seasons. You could point to a whole host of bad qualities Rex had as a HC. Number 1 for me would be having such a highly ranked defense that rarely if ever turned the ball over. But the talent he needed to operate was completely ignored by the GM. Look at the whole Dmitri Patterson fiasco? If that doesn't prove John Idzik was a shithead that was making every attempt to hamstring the HC then you guys are simply in denial. With that said, I am not advocating Woody should hire Rex back. I have always wanted and will always want Mike Westhoff to get a chance..............
Rex had potential to be great. I think he is great at certain aspects of coaching, but is fatally flawed in others. His uncompromising belief in defense being the only thing you need to win. Bowles doesn't inspire me at all. It was a nice change up after breaking up with Rex, but that's faded fast. Sent from my KIW-L24 using Tapatalk
Micro what about the obvious concerning Rex, he should have kicked and screamed when Tannenbaum let Cotchery and Edwards go just when Sanchez was showing some hope, what did the idiot do yeah he brought in Derek Mason from the Ravens. Who can forget the Santonio Holmes big time signing and being made a captain, great move that one was, remember bringing Ed Reed, I think he reported to camp driving a Studebaker. The Jets drafted Defense no. 1 year after year without much if any success, Remember playing The great no. 1 pick Kyle Wilson every game and when it was third and 9 the opposing offense always threw at him for a first down. I could go on and on behind with two minutes to go 6-3 for a month, every post game press conference Mark gives us our best chance to win, 12 men on field, wrong formations chucking challenge flags and losing timeouts every week. This is just what I can remember at 60 years old.
Kyle Wilson's greatest moment as a jet was when the jets had the ravens in 3rd and 29 and he held a WR about 5 yards from the line of scrimmage giving them an automatic first down. NITWIT.
How about the Bears game where the jets had a 20-3 lead in the first half and in the 2nd qt, Rex decided to go for a fake punt on the jets 40 and didn't make it? Gave the bears a short field and they scored a TD, changed the momentum of the game and the jets lost. Amazing how fast fans forget how bad he was.
I thought it was Rex Ryan whom heavily influenced the drafting of defensive players and in a way I somewhat blamed him for the downfall of the roster. In Bowles/Maccagnan's first two drafts together we've taken three outside linebackers, a defensive end, a quarterback and a wide receiver in the first six rounds. What is it about this franchise that is so against trying to build a competent offense through the draft? The reason the team is not setup for long term success is because the skill position players & even offensive lineman except for Mangold/Brick are filled with old veteran guys whom are here for two years and gone shortly after.
That's the thing. Rex at least had proven positives as a head coach although obviously a lot of deficiencies. Always has a strong run game/run defense regardless of the personnel and his teams were and are usually always in ball games despite the outcome. He looks as though he's improved a lot of his deficiencies in Buffalo, but it's tough to say whether he would've stopped being so stubborn without that change of scenery. The only thing Bowles has done better is maintain his timeouts. Hasn't helped us all too much. I feel like Rex could've won us ten games last year and it seems like he would've had a better record this year and a much quicker hook on Fitzpatrick. We'll never know though. But Bowles seems way in over his head this year.
The only reason Rex is showing flexibility in Buffalo is because of the Axe that is hanging over his neck. He was told to make the playoffs or be fired, if he had job security he would still be running the wildcat in Buffalo.
Feel free to put me on ignore, but while you're at it, you ought to take a look in the mirror. You're one of the stupidest posters I've ever seen on a Jets fan site.
