This is one of the issues about this CS that bothers me and the reason why it would not bother me if they were fired, Giacomini is coming off injury and is just not good anymore. So what do they do?

They give him the starting job back, Ijalana and Q were doing a better job than this guy, but because he is the incumbent he just gets reinserted as the starter. This cannot be the way a good CS makes decisions, let the young guys play if they are doing a good job.

Ben Ijalana and Brent Qvale are better RTs than Breno. He should've been cut yesterday.

That said, Ben Ijalana is just as inconsistent as Clady at LT and he shouldn't start there.

The more I watch Dalvin Cook the more I want him over both of these guys. The only worry is the tread on the tires. He'll finish with nearly 800 touches in his college career, but the guy reminds me a lot of Zeke and is a do it all back.

Not sure if we even bother drafting a talented back behind a make-shift line though, along with nearly $8 million invested in backs next year (good work Maccagnan). I don't think there's much cap savings by cutting Forte/Powell either so we might as well roll with them for another season.

Anyone have any insight on mid-round backs? Talking potential 4th rounders and beyond here.

I like Nick Chubb and Wayne Gallman from what I've seen. Chubb does have the injury label and Gallman has a shit ton of touches himself. I'd imagine both are second rounders as well.

Some other guys are James Conner, Elijah Hood, Samaje Perine, Sony Michel. They're no Cook, McCaffrey or Fournette but you know.

Only five of the top 30 NFL rushing leaders were drafted in the first round (Zeke, Melvin Gordon, Todd Gurley, Ryan Matthews and Mark Ingram). Only two (Zeke/Gordon) are in the top 15. Too many talented players are found in the mid-rounds to need to invest highly in a runningback.

He's a beast but isn't he one year away from eligibility?

I look at draft histories a lot. And a trend I've noticed of teams like the Patriots, Seahawks, Steelers, Packers, etc. rarely go more than a year without taking two offensive lineman in the mid rounds. They hedge their bet in one of them panning out, because they don't usually work out. If you can pull two starters out of five later round draft picks in a two or three year span, your franchise is in an excellent position.

I'd love to get our next Brick/Mangold combination even if it's not flashy on draft day. I'd sure love to have Laremy Tunsil right now rather than Lee/Hack/Burris if we did in fact trade up last year. *Sigh*

Yup, he can't come out. Tunsil has also been a flop so far. He's battled some injuries, and even had a weird one. Feel out of the bath tub. He's not all there, and he's not even playing T. They have him at G.

Both players will sit out their bowl games for the NFL draft and I for one have no problem with it.

All it takes is one freak play, low tackle or bad cut and these guys will lose tens of millions of dollars for what? A meaningless Citrus Bowl or Sun Bowl game victory?

They're both consensus first round picks, Fournette a top 10 pick. I'd do the same thing. I think this might be somewhat of a trend we'll start to see moving forward. For better or worse, these guys need to protect themselves.

While it can happen in any game, look at what happened to Marcus Lattimore and Ifo Ekpre-Olomu. College injuries absolutely destroyed their potential lucrative NFL careers even if it wasn't in the bowl games. Willis McGahee comes to mind as well, even though he rebounded pretty well all things considered.

I would rather have the Texas RB Foreman. Big guy with a little giddy up. No to Fournette he's injured more than anything. Every big game he's either already out of on the sidelines by the 3rd quarter.

Leonard Fournette is a freak athlete. He has 4.4 speed and weighs 230 pounds. The burst, elusiveness, and power is insane. I found a scouting breakdown of him and just looking at some film you know he looks like Adrian Peterson... Don't get me wrong, Dalvin Cook is also good, but Fournette has that extra thump and power and in my opinion is a better blocker....

He's also spent half of this season injured, not a great endorsement for a position know to take its toll in the NFL.

That's what happens when you keep playing on a high ankle sprain before you let it heal.

we may already have a RT - shell. one cannot underestimate the importance to the roster that he now has some game tape to evaluate - and it was against the AFC east.

this, combined with the down draft year for 1st round tackles, puts a bigger emphasis on FA. trouble is, the free agents will get bid higher and sign for ridiculous money. jets just might have to get a mid round tackle and hope they hit pay dirt or just break the bank.

If Fournette can be even 3/4 of what Elliott was this year then by all means take him...this team needs something to take the 10 man rush after the QB away. And yeah, yeah I like Powell but I don't think for a second he can last all year as the number 1.

Yeah, I'm only considering Fournette or Cook at our slot. We need an explosive playmaker on offense for once. Like seriously, when's the last time we had someone of that caliber?

Like how the Board is thinking "get an OL. get an offense put together" Bout time!

Tjhat said would be happy with Fournette as well or agood T

First 3 rounds build an offense

We might just have to go with a stopgap at left tackle in free agency and live to fight another draft day in finding our left tackle of the future.

That is, to keep the 2017 quarterback safe.

Andrew Whitworth available and while he's old, he's likely the only free agent tackle worth a damn. As far as I know Riley Reiff has played right tackle all season long and we'll get to see him on display against the Seahawks three pass rushers this week.

    http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/free-agents/tackle/

The tackle position is so bare in free agency this year on both sides. Matt Kalil has been just awful this year. We could look to Byron Bell, although it's a Ryan Clady situation as he missed the entire season

Rick Wagner is also another option but I believe he's only ever really played right tackle. I could be wrong, and to add the Ravens rarely let young solid players leave.

I've seen Ryan Ramczyk projected as high as the top 10 and he will have offseason hip surgery that would likely have him out til at least training camp. With that being said, the value might not exactly be there but he looked like the real deal everytime I saw him play this year, and especially against Western Michigan in their bowl game.

If we move to a zone blocking scheme with Defilippo we could look at Roderick Johnson from Florida State in the second round. Not a power run blocker but he's in the mold of an athletic zone blocking tackle ala Lane Johnson.
