Westie, we often, if not usually agree, but not this time. IMO it's not something when compared to discovering what you have in Petty. It's not something when the HC made the decision out of fear of losing the team. IMO Bowles should have been fired immediately after making that comment. No offense meant, but playing just to beat the Pats is pathetic imo and a loser mentality. Fitz does NOT give this team the best chance to win. He sucks and has no arm. He's not a leader. His accuracy is awful and he can't read Ds any better than Petty can. As far as motivating this team, Bowles has pretty much been proven to be a failure at this, and I think he has already lost the team's respect and it won't matter what he says or does.
If you're a Jets player who only cares about himself, then it shouldn't matter to you who's playing QB. And if you care about the team, then you'd want to play with the guy who might be on the team next year.
Every Jets backup QB the last 6 years is "the answer" in the eyes of Jets fans.Every one of them is out of the league.
I don't disagree with anything you've said. I'm just trying to look at the situation from the point of view of a coach, who has had a disappointing season, trying to get his team to win this one "important" game. I used quotes because I understand that to you, and me, and many of the fans, after such a disastrous season, this game is no longer that important, but it's the Pats and to this franchise that makes it important, a chance at redemption. For this game, I don't think Bowles cares about Petty's development. He just wants to win a game.
You're probably right but that's why someone above Bowles needs to step up and say not so fast my friend...get Fitz on the bench and let's evaluate the young guys If he doesn't care about Petty's development then he's probably not the right guy for the job Even if we beat the Pats with Fitz we still can't make a playoff run which is all that matters. The Jets as a team lost the privilege to play to win the game instead of playing for the future by playing like a dumpster fire in the beginning of the season
This ^^ Agree. Prolly not quite the time to start Petty against Belicheat. Especially considering the state of affairs with the team. Petty will get his chance.
The Patriots defense is not good this year...why are people so afraid of big bad belichick lol Their offense with Brady is obviously great but their defense is a bend but don't break weak unit Petty would probably make some plays against them
The problem is the owner, he won't even allow the GM to be a real GM. Mac can't fire Bowles? Woody Johnson is making that decision???? Holy shit, the billboards should have been for Johnson, not Idzik. Woody is the common denominator in this shit equation.
I'm not afraid of him, and I want to win the game too. I don't really care who starts. But Petty would not be put in a good position in that game against him. Young inexperienced QB's of the status of Petty are meat against him. And we suck giant Moose Cock and their gunning for best record and a first round bye. However their units rank doesn't matter imo. Petty well get his chance. p.s. I really don't care either way, but would rather see Petty in a better situation and still have high hopes for him
The Rams defense was a much tougher unit to face though is my point and Petty did fine The Pats mix up coverages but they are not nearly as aggressive or nasty on defense..not even close Very frustrating
Thanks for the clarification. I misunderstood your intent. I agree that is probably the approach that Bowles is taking. Since I despise him and want him gone as soon as possible, I hope he doesn't succeed. I really hope that Fitz throws multiple picks, the team totally quits on Bowles, and gets blown out. Precisely because it is the Pats, I think it will surely get Woody's attention and make him see how inept Bowles is.
The only way I can feel good about this decision is the belief that Bowles has been told he's going to be fired unless he turns the season around. If that's the case and Bowles is starting Fitz to save his job, then we are in good shape to be rid of Bowles.
Gonna say it again.... WE HAVE SEEN THIS SEASON BEFORE.... Fire Bowles. Woody Johnson needs to move on
Thank god I gave up my season tickets years ago !!!! IF I had not done that years ago I would be tossing them in my fireplace right now ! At this point how on earth can anyone justify starting Fitz ? I mean the GM can give you 12 million reason$ to start him but any fan or person with a pulse can say no way its time to play all the kids ! The team is done we have 7 losses and its not even December yet , we are looking at double digit losses this year ! Blow this whole thing up and start over,,,,,sadly the clueless owner reached out to guys who supposedly knew what they were doing but those guys blew it big time . The last game of the 2015 year against Buffalo was a BIG RED FLAG to me and set off the alarms about the coach . This year has exposed the flaws in this coach and they are glaring . Anyone out there feel like this team is giving a solid effort and just being out played each week ? I sure as hell don't ! Anyone see mistakes being corrected in game or adjustments being made to give our boys the best chance to succeed ? Now we are forced to watch Fitz play yet again ? What on earth would this organization of done if Fitz had signed a contract to go elsewhere last summer ? Instead they gave this guy 12 million when no one else wanted him and now they force him down our throats,,,,,simply amazing ! Blow it up Woody or better yet just sell the team !
because every one of them were ruined by the Jets. Along with the starters too. This franchise is death to Qb's. We just don't have a f'n clue how to draft one, how to develop one or how to use one. Just no hope when it comes to Jets Qb development. None whatsoever.
I would rather have players who think about the team first. "Might be on the team next year" shouldn't be as strong a motivation as "which QB on the team now gives us the best chance to win this game."
So spot on and really freaking sad. The only part I disagree with is the last part. I will add, please Macc, bring in a CS that has a history of developing QBs and will commit to developing the young QBs we have or any others that we bring in and will end this forever long search for a franchise QB for this team.
