Will new marketing interns help us win? Nope. Will new unis help us win? Nope. Will wasting taxpayer dollars on a new stadium help us win? And nope.
I've said for years that if the Jets were going to play like pussies, they ought to have to look like them on the field. I think they should wear pink unis until they play in a way that makes the fans proud.
I agree, Kurt. I've said for years that a huge part of the Jets problem was the lack of their own home. If I'm not mistaken, they are the ONLY team in professional sports history that NEVER had their own home. They've always been tenants/renters in some other team's home. That's made them 2nd class citizens and a joke. But of course, that's just been a reflection of the morons who have owned the Jets. I often wish that Joe Namath had never signed with the Jets, but had signed with the NFL team that drafted him instead (I forget who). If he hadn't, I never would have become a Jets fan and wouldn't have had to endure all these suck ass, embarrassing, frustrating years of following this joke of a franchise/team. IMO the only real hope for this team's fans is that Woody will either get tired of his toy or that he will die and his children will want nothing to do with it and sell the team. Even then, the way our luck goes, probably another clueless twit will buy the team and nothing will change. There has been little to celebrate or market from the team's history. Their SB win was huge, but was almost half a century ago. The franchise is known more for its ineptness and bungling than it is for its prowess on the field. At this point, I doubt if even their own, new stadium would be enough. It may take not only selling the team, but moving it, changing the name, uniform colors, and forgetting everything about its history (kind of like the Ravens/Browns). If that happened, I could definitely walk away from this train wreck of a team.
and yet I'd still trade rosters with the Colts immediately. They at least have hope for the future. The Jets don't. besides the Colts aren't the only example. Tampa tanked for Winston, Tennessee for Mariota, Carolina for Cam Newton. I'd take those situations right away. Tanking makes sense and although the top QBs this year are not as strong as in alot of drafts, I'd tank right now if I was in the Jets front office. Play Petty the rest of the way, IR injured vets, and finish with a top 5 pick. Then you can take whoever you want. people talk shit about tanking when its happening but a couple years later they conveniently forget you did that and call you a smart organization when it pans out. I would like our Jets to be in that place for once
Do we have a projected top 10 players coming out this year? I don't follow college football that closely. I know the top prospects (QB-wise) are Watson and Kizer anyone that does follow CFB want to put in their 2 cents? Might as well look to the future
Being a shitty team does not equate to tanking. The only one of those teams I remember doing anything resembling tanking is when the Bucs pulled all of their starters at halftime in week 17 (after being shitty for 16 weeks). Sometimes you just suck bad enough to get a good draft pick.
You do know that the Cowboys attempted to trade up for Paxton Lynch and Conor Cook and eventually settled on their third choice Dak Prescott right?
All those teams I mention tanked. Carolina tanked big time to get Cam Newton. They did things like placing banged up RB DeAngelo Williams on the IR because "they needed the roster spot." They got their win with Matt Moore but decided they'd rather lose with Jimmy Clauson & Brian St. Pierre, etc. Tennessee tanked for Mariota. They trotted out Mettenberger every week even though it was obvious he was over his head. They IRed most of their offensive line. And you can't tell me they werent trying to lose when they lost to a 2-11 Jets team at home down the stretch. The Jets are in a perfect spot to do the same thing right now. Mangold is battling an ankle for example- IR him. Start Petty no matter what. give vets like Harris, Revis, Marshall less snaps, phase in the young players.
Alot of teams have tanked. Jets have won alot of meaningless December games in the past when things didn't matter.I was actually pretty shocked they lost the LA game. That's a game the Jets always find a way to pull out even in a lousy year & it usually ends up costing them a few draft slots. I'm all for losing out...6-10 rather than 3-13 stings just as bad if not worse. The team could use a top 5 or even top 3 pick. Problem is..while I don't hate the QBs in this draft...I'm not sure any of them justify a top 10 selection.Perhaps yielding a 1st rounder for Sheldon and/or Wilk would provide a good landing spot for one of the QBs. Top 3 we'd be smart to look at the RBs,Edge rusher & Peppers.
If we can get a 1st for Sheldon I wouldn't mind using both 1st's and a 2nd on O-line. I know its not a sexy scenario by any means, however, Dallas is a prime example of how a dominant O-line can help in every other facet of the game. Do I trust the Jets to draft the RIGHT guys???? Now that's a different story...
The Jets always win meaningless december games. Another team that is like that is Buffalo. I personally believe perhaps the biggest reason Buffalo is on a 16? year playoff drought is because when they have been bad they have been 6-10 every time, not 2-14. They have missed out on Manning, Rivers, Roethlisberger, Matt Ryan, Cam Newton, Stafford, Bradford, Luck, throughout those seasons... all because they have finished 6-10 or so with at least one meaningless december victory. Without fail you see Buffalo getting that meaningless december win. You'd have to think that if Buffalo landed any of those QBs I mentioned, any of them, the nearly 20 year playoff drought would not exist.
That's my point. What good does it do to suck balls and get a top 5 pick when the Jets are going to blow it anyway and the best QB will be taken in the 4th round by a real NFL team? If the Jets are going to go through the trouble to suck and get a high draft pick, they should at least have the common decency to use that pick trade down and hoard more young talent.
Totally agree. Not wild about the college QB's up for the draft - none grab me like Mariota did. So drafting early with the best off the board would be just as much a lottery as drafting QB in later rounds. I'd rather go for a sure fire road-grader as OL is a priority to protect whoever we put behind center. Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
Issue is the Jets tanking won't do us any good as we will more often than not blow the pick ... might as well play and end up where we end up I'm at a loss of what to look forward to these days seems like every season we have 1 or 2 glaring needs and we end the season with 5 glaring needs our corners went to shit overnight our O line is mediocre ... I have hope in Petty but our FO and CS will screw that up somehow ... one thing I do know is trade our second rounder until the end of time ...
Anyone listen to our GM s presser today ? I don't know about you but if I were GM i would NOT be saying that there are some things that look good or that I like and I would put everyone on notice as the effort has sucked the results have sucked and the whole thing sucks ! BLOW IT UP WOODY
