Letting him loose would most likely lead to more INTs and a few strip sacks. At this point though, there's nothing to lose at 3-7. You just don't want to ruin his confidence so early.
Lets stop this insanity to bring back Fitz. Petty is our hope. He will not learn on the bench. He played like a rookie with hope, behind a patched up line, and extremely conservative game plan, and poor execution almost across the board on offense. Please don't tell me Fitz would have done better, except fumble twice and throw the same desperation pick Petty did. We cant even kick an extra pint for God's sake, and our secondary is dismal.

Well said. Petty didn't go out there and play terribly today. Did he play great? No, but I think he showed enough to continue to play in a season that is lost. What exactly are we going to learn about Petty and/or Hackenberg if Fitzpatrick finishes out the season? Nothing, and what will we have gained from a guy playing QB in six meaningless games who won't be on the roster next season? Nothing. Bowles needs to realize, the season is over and it's time to see what we have in Petty and/or Hackenberg

You can run playaction bombs where Petty doesn't really have to think much You can do a lot of different things to open up the offense down the field while also "protecting" a young QB Gailey and Bowles did a horrible job today

I thought he played as expected for a basically rookie player ... the rams killed us on special teams killed us ... we kept punting 30 yarders and they kept booming 70 yarders they won field position and ultimatly the game ... he could've had a 14-6 lead if he hits Robby at the end of the half he was wide open and threw it 7 yards to the right ... I missed the second half cause of work can someone fill me in on how bad his INT looked ?? NO WAY IN HELL do we go back ro Fitz it will only set the franchise back even further ... let the kid learn on the field this season is over with play and fix it up ..... again ..... come the draft
