I don't know what's going thru the Ancient One's mind, but today's gameplan absolutely reeks of fear. They're purposely keeping Petty on a very short leash with all this predictable playcalling. The one time they got fancy, they scored. The one time they showed some courage, they successfully threw deep from the endzone. So, WTF is the problem? I'm desperately trying to keep my tinfoil hat on the table BUT, it certainly looks like they don't want Petty to do too much today. 6-3 game and they're playing against a team on a 4game losing streak AT HOME. What do they do, play like they're on the road. Take no chances. Keep the throws short. So help me if they try to even say that Petty isn't ready to run this team, I will go on a personal vendetta to badmouth this CS from one end of the Internet to the other. The problem isn't Petty, its this CS who is proving itself not ready for the New York stage. They are far too timid in their approach and ultimately, they'll fail here. Lets see what the 2nd half holds as we get the ball first. Chan needs to show some faith in Petty to make plays. If not, then he needs to resign and go back to the porch. I'm 2 seconds from being done with Gailey. rant/over
The first down runs are beyond predictable at this point. Forte is getting stuffed every time. Another 3rd & long situation right out of half time and another 3 & out. Time to cut loose a little. It's the Rams.
He is TERRIBLE. You win games by throwing. You go into the 4th quarter with 6 points by running. It is so incredibly predicable. It's pathetic
It's not a shocker. New QB, uber conservative play calling. Results in a lot of stuff, 3rd and longs, etc. Then when he doesn't throw for 4 TDs and 300 yards, they can be all "SEE!? SHOULDA GONE WITH FITZMAGIC!"
Absolutely Spot on. The gameplan was once again dreadful. OK Petty threw it a bit long on the pass to Anderson, but it was the right throw and looked better than anything we've seen recently witm Fitz. The Interception, I struggle to call it an Interception as Enunwa had two hands on it and it was just wrestled out, not really Petty's fault IMO. The constant obvious check down throws cost us the game and with the running game doing pretty well this was a wasted result.
Yes blame the offensive coordinator when Petty looked like Chris Simms out there other than one great throw in the first half. But when you can't make a wide open throw like the Anderson play in the second half that's a red flag right there. He could have had three picks in the second half but they only caught one.
This is the worst called game I have ever watched from the Jets. Every first down play is a run up the middle. We ran short passes all game long. This offense is a solid offense when we attack a little more vertical. 8-12 yard passes. Fire Gailey and Toilet Bowles. Awful just awful.
Give him a break that was one pass during his first game. The play calling was atrocious, they simply didn't trust him.
Fine bench him I don't care. This fucking team is more cursed than the Cubs and football fucking sucks these days. Gonna follow my Devils until April when we get out top 5 pick, watch them fuck that up and then probably quit watching football altogether. I take little joy watching this shit anymore.
Game plan was high school level. All top brass need replacement. Of all professional sports this one requires the most urgency. Only 16 games a season , every year is a win now season, every game is a win now game. You have to have a much better game plan than that to win games. This Fischer price coaching staff and management need to go.
Top 5 pick guarantees defensive line , corner or wasted on a work in progress prospect that the Jets will never develop. Glass half empty rant/. F u Jets! Rant/
Oh no! He threw two near picks. I can say that about every QB in the NFL today. We don't know what we have or don't have with Petty because our coaching staff is terrible. The pros on the Jets postgame aren't killing Petty. They're killing this coaching staff for exactly the reasons stated over and over in the game thread about this coaching staff getting tight and putting Petty in a position to fall short.
They don't want to kill a kid in his first NFL game, especially when some of them (like Lucas) were crying for Petty to start.
Tom Brady and maybe three other QBs in this league might be able to overcome Gailey's Run, Run, 3rd & Long game plan. Petty might be the worst QB in the NFL. He might be good. Thanks to the coaching staff, we are no closer to making that determination after this game than we were before it. That's the most infuriating aspect about this game.
Predictable thread. Last year Chan was a genius, this year he's a bum.... Last year the players over performed, this year the players have under performed.
