Its really not gonna matter how well Petty does once he gets in. The Jets have already made up their minds about who their man is and its Hackenberg. Petty could come in and throw for 4TD's, 0 ints and 350yds and it still won't be good enough. Kid is in a bad spot. Hopefully, he gets lucky and gets outta here..Sucks being a placeholder at the start of a career.
These are the New York Jets we're talking about here... We don't do Qb's that set records. Oh, and Petty will be the first I think. Penn St. doesn't exactly have a great track record for Qb's either. We're fucked..
I hate to say this. Mike Francesa said the truth. The backup qb is the most popular player to the fans until it is found out why he is the backup.
usually you would get the company line of "if player A is in we believe we can win with him" it doesn;t mean he sucks but color decker very unimpressed based on his quote
No, I think it's just typical, stupid football players sticking with the vet even when he sucks balls. If the Jets players are that stupid, then we need to burn it all down and start over.
I'll bet if you had asked Cowboys players before the season if Dak Prescott should play, their reaction would be the same. They probably would have wanted Tony Romo starting again if he was healthier sooner. It's just the pride and stupidity of football players.
Because putting all your eggs in one 4th round QB pick's basket would be stupid and grounds for firing.
I guess we also need to discount anything that the Fitzpatrick BFF crew says about the QB situation. They're a big reason we're in this mess.
Truth. There's a reason that few former players become good talent evaluators. The rallying cries for Fitzpatrick from Decker/Mangold/Marshall because he's a cool guy to go to Rangers games with seems to be a key factor in why we gave in to his contract demands. Fans too. Why'd they listen to dudes like me, whom thought Fitz was the best way to go?! I still think it was the right move at the time, even in hindsight. I wish this franchise would stop giving in to outside forces though. Stop bending to what fans and players want, and make the right friggain football decisions.
Fitzpatrick has thrown like 20 red zone interceptions in the last 2 games. Bryce Petty has NEVER even thrown an incompletion in the NFL.
The red zone interceptions are truly the most ridiculous part of this season. Marcus Mariota has never thrown one (as a rookie and 2nd year player coming from a spread offense) and Fitz has like 7 in the end zone this year.
I believe it took Pennington several seasons to ever throw one. I'm having a hard time remembering a Fitzpatrick interception that hasn't been in the red zone to be honest.
This might be piss off people on this board but Fitz gives the best chance to win. He is not great. He is probably the least terrible choice. The real problem is the Jets do not have a real qb. So Russell did not beat out Flynn in Seattle?
