If they believe that why is he on the team? Why are they paying him? If that is in fact the case it makes no sense and they are even worse than they appear.
But if they think that Fitzpatrick gives them a better chance to win, with the way he's been playing, doesn't that go right back to my conclusion that they think Petty is terrible?
It's not about how good or bad Petty is. It's all about Gailey not comfortable with anyone except Fitz. He can't make game plan for anyone else and will do anything, including starting worse QB to hide own incompetence.
An interesting tidbit that I heard on Mike and Mike this morning for those who might think that Fitz hasn't been so bad - no QB in this century (or this millennium, for that matter) has ever gone through a season with a combination of interception rate as high as his is currently and a QB rating as low as his is currently. Using baseball terminology, he is well below replacement level. I really don't understand any statements that he "gives us the best chance to win" when no NFL QB has performed this poorly in at least 15 years.
So you're saying Jets are a special team after all?! Playoff hunt, in the middle of it!! Win-Now team! Fitz should not set a foot on the field for the rest of the season. I don't care if Petty blows the next 4 games and Hack blows the remaining ones. Either Petty or Hack show they can ball, then we got THE man. Or they won't -- then we got high pick to continue searching for one. There is absolutely no value in starting Fitz.
It is time they gave Petty a shot, he looked good before his injury, granted it was against a lesser class of player but we certainly have nothing to lose right about now or indeed last month but he wasn't fit to play. I didn't want Fitz to resign, his history suggested a bad year was imminent but hard to ignore his record breaking season with us and dump him, so I understood why he was resigned but it is over now and it is pointless going back to Geno he looked cooked before he got injured. Try Petty if he flops then you know what is needed on the shopping list, Hack is nowhere near ready to even be understudy either unfortunately.
Gailey is designing plays that have receivers streaking wide open down the field and Fitz is consistently either neglecting them or missing them with bad throws.
I really think if Fitz threw the pass that Geno threw to Enunwa for the 69 yard td it would have been a 4 yard gain, every pass is wide, high, low, behind the intended receiver
And yet he keeps playing this guy - my point exactly: Gailey would rather go down with Fitz than try and succeed with anyone else.
Yep. Let's say for argument sake that Gailey has evaluated Petty and Hack and knows they are bad, worse than Fitz. Then play them! Shut everybody up by proving you're right in starting Fitz, make the fans and media eat huge helping of crow, and gloat about it! Call presser at the end of the season and tell everyone "THAT'S why I played Fitz, you bunch of couch-coaching morons!" How do I know that Gailey is married to Fitz? Because during pre-season Petty was repeatedly hitting Anderson for TDs on exactly the same play that Fitz didn't last Sunday. Because on the first pass Petty hit a nice screen shot. There is enough objective evidence on the field to conclude that Petty is likely better than 1:2 TD/INT ratio that Fitz is showing. START PETTY YOU FUCKING MORONS!!!!!
I am done and I'm ready for Petty.....At this point there is no other real reason to watch. I want to see what the kid has......
