this reminds me of 2012 when we sucked and everyone wanted to see greg mcelroy and then he sucked so they put back sanchez. this also reminds me of 2014 when we sucked and everyone wanted to see matt simms and then he sucks so they put back Geno,
I would love it if Petty started and played great or even showed a lot of promise. And I am way way over Fitztragic being our starting QB. However, the coaches see these players every day. They have more information on the situation than anyone posting on these message boards. The coaches want to win - period. Isn't the logical conclusion that Fitz gives us a better chance to win than Petty? Whether it's ability to run the offense, physical tools, you name it. Now, when we're mathematically eliminated, and you know Fitz won't be back next year, there's no harm in getting reps to Petty and they should do it. Maybe that time is now. But anyone who thinks that Petty is obviously better than Fitz, but the coaches simply refuse to play him for some indefensible reason is plain wrong.
Whether anyone feels that petty gives us a better chance to win is irrelevant. We are eliminated. To hell with this mathematical bs. Anyone (including the coaches/gm) that refuses to acknowledge that is a buffoon. That being said - get ad much game tape of petty as possible going into the off season. That should be the franchise's #1 goal right now. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
If they thought he could play he would be starting today. They obviously don't think he is the answer. If they are wrong then all bets are off.
Petty is way more talented than McElroy. Some sports guys thought he was the best QB in the draft. isn't Prescott a 4th rounder, Brady later than that. Petty can throw down the field, has a great arm and a knack for the big play. He's had a year and a half in the system - he doesn't need more time. Throw him in and tailor the playbook to his strengths. I have no desire to watch Fitz any more and it will only set us back. Every snap the young QBs get furthers their development. Zero reason to play a guy that won't be our QB next year. Zero excitement with Fitz in the game right now.
That list is a mile long, no surprising considering the garbage we've had for QB, this has been going on for decades the fans and the delusions of the unknown QB
But at least you then know to move on. We know Fitz sucks, so if Petty turns out to suck then we move on to Hack and someone else and keeping looking until we find someone who does not suck.
What about missing Robbie Anderson for an easy TD in the first half? Shitz left more points on the field then special teams did.
I think the bye week would be a better time. Yes against the Pats, but no one fears their defense. They Brady/Edelman/Anendola/Hogan you to death with 9 min drives and mistake free football.
I'll go with the latter for 100... Given their acute QB evaluation skillset, I'll go with the latter for 500.
If they play him and they win a couple of games and maybe even an unexpected win then the world will be saying why did we pay that bum 12 million to lose 6 (or 7 or 8 or 9) games when we had a good qb sitting on the bench all the time..in turn that means goodbye bowles and goodbye maccagnan...that's why they won't play him unless Fitzpatrick goes down for good.
I agree with part of this, but not the end. I think a lot of why Petty isn't playing is the pride of the GM who has been questioned for drafting a project Qb in the 2nd round when he could have had that same Qb in the 4th. Mac has a lot of issues and questions regarding his judgement. His big money contracts have not panned out. The Qb standoff ended with the Jets outbidding themselves for a journeyman Qb who is literally stealing his money. Woody forced the Revis reunion but Mac caved on the cash. Mo's signing is problematic as well as Sheldon might be the one who should have gotten paid. Mac's reputation as an up and coming GM has taken a hit this season for sure. The shine has also worn off his HC. Now the fanbase is restless and Mac knows what happened to the last GM who fckd up. Amazingly enough, it seems there's a 2 year barrier with Jet GM's. If they can survive intact, they just might make it thru their contract. Now Mac is not only facing a losing season, but the prospect of either going into full rebuild mode with Petty or his preference Hack or GOD FORBID, resigning Fitztragic to another one year deal. Can you imagine the blowback if Mac's contracts and DP's don't pan out? What happens if Mac continues this rebuild on the fly and yet another losing season happens in 2017? His team isn't getting any younger and neither is his fanbase. Mac has some serious issues on the horizon not the least of which is having to finally make the call on the most important position on the field. Yeah, the decision he's been dodging... That one...
Anyone who thinks a QB throwing under 200 yds with 2 ints with countless missed throws gives us the best chance to win needs to be replaced immediately. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
At some point you have to see what you have in real games. The season is a disaster Try to learn some things- smart people make the most out of a bad situation
We might get lucky.. http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/...ck-new-york-jets-mri-injured-left-knee-monday This might be the only way we can get Fitz off the field and Petty on it..
THis makes a lot of sense but right now it's the CS that is the issue...any competent HC would have benched most of these under performing misfits for their poor play and Asinine Penalties. You have a HC that is oblivious to the obvious and may have already lost this team.
