I agree that he was very fluid but he always looked like he was trying to me. It's night and day.

I wish they would cut him.

I would have to disagree with this, his technique was flawless in his prime he was definitely trying. Every movement he made was precise it felt like. Now he just looks sloppy each snap. His technique all around is sloppy.

Huge difference between fluid play and trying.. Revis used to play press, that requires physical strength effort plus speed and positioning. Revis lacks the desire to be physical, lost speed and is now relying solely on positioning. It's not enough.

I don't think he can play press anymore, as some have mentioned, he used to have great technique.

I believe, if he tries to play press, he will get smoked every time as he does not have the speed to stay with the receivers. There are many excuses as to why he is not playing like the Revis of old, the truth is, he does not have the skill anymore, he is old and he is not trying.

He is only the Revis of old mentally not physically. The jets need to figure out how to get rid of him and his salary.

I'd rather see him try to play press and fail then not try and fail anyway.

Revis used a lot of film study to figure out the receivers routes. That coupled with his speed and strength made him a shut down corner. Today the strength isn't there and the speed has also deserted him. He doesn't even have the tackling ability to play safety. So the DC just has to work out different cover 2 plays to keep him effective.

I understand your perspective, but we're talking about giving up TDs as well as 100 yards halfs. I would rather he give up a bunch of yards and no TDs versus giving up 60 yard TDs because he can't keep up with the receivers.

Remember that game against the Raiders last year with Cromartie?

I think we would see a repeat of that game every game with Revis if he were to try and play press.

And therein lies the problem fellows... No one believes for a minute, not the media, not the fans, not opposing scouts, etc. That statement is coach speak for "trying" to boost his confidence. Frankly if he does believe it then he needs to go as a HC who IMHO is fast become a fool with his asinine statements, his team that is unprepared almost every game and players that seem to not give a rats ass...

Was that PFF? I was looking for their CB rankings but could not find them. Thanks.

EDIT: Just saw that you need a subscription to see those rankings. Ah well. I'll take your word for it.

Bench Revis for Burris. Cut Revis immediately after the season. I never want to see him in green again. He is a punk bitch.

Someone posted it on another thread, I think he was 104 out of 124 or something close to that.

I guess Bowles is suppose to throw Revis under the bus. "yeah he's done, I sit here wonder why Macc doesn't just cut this guy".

Of course you say Revis is still the man. You just gameplan totally different when gameday is around.

I get that, but if you cut him, you have to replace him. And if he's in fact been starting and playing, he's got to be better that what's sitting. And that can't be good.

Perhaps a coach trying to maintain control of his locker room? I'm sure there are issues in there, and he must figure advocating for him is bettter for that than throwing him under the bus. And if it's not, and he's reading it all wrong, then we're nearer to the edge than even we here thought.
