NE hasn't picked in the top half of the draft since their 6th round pick took over for Bledso 15 yrs ago and here they are, the best team in FB. Suck for Luck? Suck for RG3? Suck for Kapernick? Suck for Alex Smith? Suck for Goff? Give me a break. How about we stop 'sucking' and start 'winning'.
Such the optimist. It's adorable. We don't have the roster to go 6-2 the back half of the season. We have the Patriots twice still (99.9% chance of two losses there), two Miami games which are never gimmes, another Buffalo game which God knows. Other than that we still have Rams, Colts, and 49ers. We are done for the year. Fitz needs to be gone. Forte needs to be gone. Our o-line needs to be completely revamped. Our d-backs need to be revamped. There is so much work to be done but every damn season, we continue to sign aging vets at overpriced contracts that they don't deserve and we'll continue to lose like other loser franchises. You think dynasty teams get where they are by doing this? New England is good because they constantly get rid of the old right before drop offs and stock up on picks. Seattle built young. Pittsburgh constantly ditches older players so they keep winning their division. No one wins by signing overpaid vets yet we keep trying anyway.
The depressing thing is ( or maybe: "a depressing thing is") that since the coach and gm haven't figured that out yet, it's entirely possible that they never will and the next few years will be the same thing until they get fired and the time loop restarts itself. The owner seems to want to keep fans in the seats by being in the news and relying on false hopes, so this could never end until Woody sells the team, probably to one of his friends who is still playing with model trains on Martha's Vineyard. The real problem with this strategy is that it makes us consistently mediocre, which is just good enough to keep the billboard crowd at bay.
I agree to a point. Woody without a doubt acted this way when the stadium was being built and was new in oder to sell his PSL's and luxury suites (Favre, Rex, Tebow) but I think he's calmed down A BIT. I felt that the McCagnan/ Bowles hires were "un-sexy" enough to show that it's changing.
I am all for being an optimist when a team is competitive, ready to play, plays hard, makes minimal mistakes, is well coached and can win close games. Where in that list do you see the current "competitive rebuild" being that? Like Fitz, last year's team was an aberration based on staying healthy and having the easiest (or one of) the easiest schedules in the league. This year all of our shortcomings for years of neglect have surfaced and are compounded by very poor coaching - very poor coaching. I have no faith at all that this team as presently constituted with its present coaching staff can muster a winning record this year let alone the POs.... If it was in my power, I would have Mac and TB in my office and tell them 1) fire your DC immediately, 2) put CG on the hot seat, 3) bench Pryor and give Revis help and let him know he is close to being benched, 4) tell them to bench Fitz and play petty when he is ready and if he is to play him, 5) if the team continues to come out flat, look unprepared and play shitty then I tell TB he will be looking for a job at the end of the year.
It may be changing but not for the better..people love to hate ryan and love to forget he got us to two straight championship games with fuckin Mark Sanchez as our QB and in that first one he was a rookie..come back when Bowles has gotten us to one.
I was a Rex fan, but I - most of us, knew the change had to be made if a new GM was coming in. Sanchez is a head-scratcher. He was looking like our franchise QB and then it all fell apart. I believe the tipping point was a game at Baltimore, when he was absolutely demolished on a first-series blitz. He showed guts after that, but was never the same once he lost confidence in his protection. We can blame Tanny for that. No O-Line depth. Those first two year with Rex we had great run blocking and more than adequate pass protection. The Tanny/Rex/Woody team got cocky about getting there twice, without fully understanding WHY they did. And, although Rex was what we needed at the time and I was a fan, let's not pretend like they had stellar regular seasons under him. I don't recall having the pleasure of a home playoff game. One of those years we were lucky as hell to qualify.
