The Spiller signing is a short-sighted, short-term move. Typical Jets to go after the washed up has been instead of trying to develop new talent.
The only young guy we have on the roster is that Wilds kid. I guess they don't think he's ready. We need another RB if they are going to use Powell more along with Forte so this isn't a terrible signing "IF" he's going to be the 3rd back. Next season we have to get a RB that can contribute immediately, doesn't matter which round(not the 1st). EDIT: Forgot about the Pope kid from Sea who they released for this. Honestly forgot we even had a 3rd back. I'm going to reclassify this as a "silly ass move" because you don't release a young 3rd back for a old one.
I mean logic would dictate that they brought Spiller in to return kicks, just like he did with Seattle for a few weeks. Will they put him in for some passing plays? I'm sure they will. But I think everyone is outsmarting themselves a bit.
It's absurd. It's a depth move and people are acting like he's going to come in and take #1 snaps. It's clear they wanted a return man. Davis was a returner as well, no surprise here. Can't believe people get upset over a ST / depth move that might actually improve the special teams.
Ridley, Robinson, Spiller, Davis. Maybe we should just draft another RB at some point. It's been a while.
It isn't that - Spiller could be somewhat useful as a returner and RB for a few games, but what about next year when he's 30? My problem is that we are using a roster spot for a washed up veteran on what is already a marginal, aging team. This has been our MO for decades and I'm sick of it. That roster spot should go towards finding a player who can contribute in the long term. We need to be developing young talent - not churning through cast-off veterans at the twilight of their careers.
What? Spiller? When Knile Davis is available? Hey wait! Maybe they're going to work him at corner? edit: LMFAO! I was being a smart ass about Davis and didn't know he'd already had his tea leaves read and been released by NYJ.
I don't disagree at all, but there's absolutely nothing out there for RBs. Anyone who's involved in Fantasy can attest to that. It was mentioned earlier that MF and BP are both nicked up, so it's probably just a spot pick up as a contingency.
Spiller wasn't kept on the PUP List like some secret weapon, only to return and be slower than molasses.
Who got dropped to make room for him? I don't think this FO has any concept of what they're doing. Who signs somebody only to release them two hours later so they can sign another bum? Only the jets of course.
Talk about making a mountain out of a molehill. Only Jets fans can take a depth, STs signing and make it into a catastrophe. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Mediocre? He's fucking terrible! Blind people have better vision. He's the softest FB that ever existed. Just completely terrible. The best thing about him was the fact that he had better hands than most fullbacks and that ain't saying much since 95% of the fullbacks have bricks for hands. Either way he was a waste of money and a roster spot. They had a converted LB play FB over him! A guy who they also immediately cut. That's how fucking terrible Bohanon was. He got beat out by a nobody who has never played the position, who then got cut immediately as well. Bohanon took being fucking terrible to a whole new dimension.
I have no problem with bringing in Spiller if the Jets are worried about the health of Forte and Powell, but if these guys are healthy enough to play I would of rather the Jets did like the Steelers did stashing Karlos Williams on the PS.
