Because the Jets need more draft picks and the core of our d-line is Leo and Mo. Right now Sheldon is more attractive to those looking at trading for him, due to the fact he'll be under contract next season at a relatively speaking low cost. If you wait until next season he'll only be worth a 3rd like the Pats got for Collins.
Sunday in Cleveland the Browns double-teamed Leonard Williams and left Wilkerson 1-on-1 and their terrible offensive line dominated Wilkerson
Super unlikely we get that much for him. But Smith is a name we should be looking at. I'd also be interested in La'El Collins.
I thought the d-line played it's best game vs the Bengals without Sheldon, while he was serving his 2-strike suspension. Bottom line Wilkerson and Williams are core players. Face it.
Sheldon has been suspended back to back seasons and his rookie contract is up. Because of that you will NOT get fair value. You're not getting more than a conditional 3rd for a player like that. More likely a conditional 5th that becomes a fourth......and then like swap our 7th for their 6th. I say they still do it.
Anything less than a 3rd, the Jets should keep him. If Richardson walks after '17 and signs as least a ~10m/yr contract, the Jets get a 3rd round compensatory pick.
So Dallas turned the Jets down flat for Richardson, no contract and we wanted too much..now we will watch him walk for nothing..another great Maccagnan move.
I did see that..I thought his contract was up after this year and we have nothing to tag and pay him with as we are already over the cap. Oh, I see he is due 8M in 17, doubt we have that either.
Wilkerson definitely looked slow in that game. I really hope it's just injury related. I know his ankle has been bothering him for a few weeks now. If the Jets trade Richardson they should demand high. Otherwise they can just wait until the off season. It's 4:00 now so if a deal has been made, we will see it soon. If you can't get at least an early 2nd, it's not worth trading him.
Sheldon is under contract for the 2107 season so it probably benefits the Jets even better to deal him in the off season leading up to the draft. Very important that they just have to find a way to utilize his talents to showcase him from here on out.
Well it's after 4PM and I didn't hear of any big trades today by anyone..that's how the NFL trade deadline works, unlike MLB.
