That's it! Revis came back to the Jets for one reason only, he demanded elite CB money and Woody gave it to him. He would have stayed with the Pats if they would have offered him the same money but the Pats were smart enough to not give him that type of money. Now he is getting dominated like the average CB that he has become and we are supposed to feel sorry for him? Absolutely not, get rid of that greedy bum, bench him, do whatever to get rid of that salary.
Benching Revis is like benching Fitzpatrick, if either happens Maccagnan should be fired on the spot so neither will happen.
thread is ridiculous. as bad as Revis looked in that first half, who are you going to bench him for......Roberts? Skrine wasn't even playing. Burris was starting as it was. There weren't better alternatives available. The better solution is adjusting the D to the fact that Revis cannot blanket elite WR's 1:1 anymore. Unfortunately for us, Pryor can't cover a text book, limiting S support options. I would sooner bench Pryor and play Miles more, or even give Allen a look to see who gives us better S support options so we can adjust the defense accordingly.
I'm sure must have posted this from Cimini but just in case.. "The startling numbers from Darrelle Revis' performance yesterday against the Browns: He was targeted 16 times. He allowed 10 completions for 122 yards and missed two tackles, according to Pro Football Focus. He did have two passes defensed, only his second and third of the season." He was 112 of 124 CBs in the league coming in, do you think he may be dead last now? That's what 50M guaranteed buys you these days...the only question now is will the Wilkerson deal turn out to be even worse.
Pryor is one of the next big things at WR. Revis held him without a catch in the 2nd half other than a 2 pt conversion. Look at the tape, he was only targeted 3 times in the 2nd half. And one of those was a big overthrow. So Revis didn't have much trouble.
Did they remain in man to man coverage on Pryor, or adjust the D? I may have to go back and watch the second half again to see if it was alignment changes or just execution improvement.
They should bench him for someone who wants to play for starters. On second thought, you're right, the thread is ridiculous. We should grow some nuts and cut him.
Revis makes 17 million to stand out there. He has had numerous holdouts and now that his talent has waned fans want the team to holdout on him.
From the Star Ledger's midseason report card: "Darrelle Revis looks like a high school JV bench warmer pretending to be Revis for Halloween." Ouch.
He is playing 10 yards off the receivers, doesn't jam them, and then can't catch up. It's not "<100% Revis"., it's NO Revis. Opposing WRs just need to avoid accidentally bumping into him, aka run around a pillar, like in practice. So to answer your question, at this point any undrafted CB will be better than Revis because they at least will put some effort into it. Maybe just run next to WRs and stick a hand out.
