They did not draft 3, they drafted 4. You are forgetting when they took Quentin Coples over David DeCastro. Wilkerson (2011 - 30th overall), Coples (2012 - 16th overall), Richardson (2013 - 13th overall, Williams (2015 - 6th overall) The more 3-4 DEs we take the higher we take the next one.
Sheldon Mo and Leo should be utilized better IMO...there's absolutely no reason why all 3 of them can't be on the d line together rushing the passer in passing situations...rotate and keep them fresh in base I would think about trading him for a second right now but anything less than that I keep him for this season, shop him in the offseason or keep him for another year if I get no solid offers I don't buy the theory that they can't play together...they were all good last season....they simply need to step it up and beat the guys in front of them in 1 on 1 situations....not rocket science here I honestly think Wilkerson is the problem at the moment...he's playing tentatively either because he got paid, he's still not 100% mentally or physically from the injury, or both
True, but since he's not on the team, was never used in the correct fashion, and I never wanted him in the first place, conveniently forgot about him. LOL
It's not Madden but it would make sense if Macc went the ballsy route and stocked for his future. Idc if we get to 5-5, we've seen in the beginning of the season how we stack against the elite teams. Quincy's Enunwa's strip of the INT is the only thing that saved this team from turning to the beginning of the "evaluation phase". It's one thing to be same old negative jet fan, it's another it objectively view your team, not with Kelly Green shades on. This team has proved to be mostly flat, underacheiving and the way they play, to me IMO, shows there's fractures in the locker room. I never wish to lose but a loss yesterday, which looked seemingly inevitable at halftime, would've done more good long term than a shit win and a some faint hope to roll to 5-5 only to have Tom Brady set passing records against our secondary. I THINK ANY TRADES ARE HIGHLY UNLIKELY as we are not "mathematically eliminated" but if you can get a 2nd for Sheldon you gotta pull the trigger. I'm not down on Mo long term and its evident there's a logjam with all three of them playing together, it clearly doesn't look cohesive. I would even look to put Mo on IR for this season and allow him to heal. He's a damn beast, but he's playing at 70% at best. You never tank I understand this isn't 76ers, but honest self scouting is so important. I really hope the Front Office has a tangible idea on who won't be here long term and the value risk of waiting til offseason for a move (like missing out on dealingMo). At the same token, if Eagles offered a 3rd rd pick for him we should absolutely take that. Marshall has great stats I know and loves Fitz but the jig is up on a 33 year old WR who is still good, but not carrying THIS team anywhere. He could be exactly what a guy like Wentz needs in a winnable division. He puts a good hat on for the media cause he's already putting his foot in the door for his post career. If I had to guess there's more fire than smoke to the reports of dissension btwn Sheldon (and most likely more unnamed) and B Marsh. i just pray our front office is doing a good job self scouting for our future. Getting a 2&3 for players you were not going to extend and are not catosrophic losses long term, it's what a smart organization would do.
The key is finding a QB which is going to be a huge priority this off season. If we can get a decent pick for Sheldon it may help us move up in the draft to find our future. I think we could get more for him now than at the end of the season when GMs value their draft picks more. Our team would be good with a decent QB and Sheldon could be a large part of finding that guy. Ideally I'm looking for a first from a contender or a second and a depth guy from a rebuilding team.
Can the Jets trade Mo? He has a fairly cap friendly deal. Would they be able to get a 2nd or 3rd rd for him? Trade Mo, use the money saved to keep Sheldon and stockpile an additional pick. The line played better with Richardson and Williams anyway.
I think you forgot the Cincy game when Richardson was suspended. That's the best the DL has played this season. Mo has been playing hurt (at least I hope that's what the problem is rather than his dogging it). Richardson is just gonna keep talking about money and he will want more than Mo. He thinks he's a good OLB. He's just stupid and I'm tired of his mouth. Mo at least keeps his mouth shut. Trade Richardson, get Mo well, stick to the 3-4 and forget that 4-3 nonsense, and our DL will be great again.
I don't think his stock is very high at the moment and 17 million is not a cap friendly deal. Wilk is the type of player you want long term... never held out and is always on point behavior wise as apposed to Richardson. I do not see Mo going anywhere but hey if a team likes his contract and offers something high so be it.... but then we risk the chance of ruining the D-line we've spent so long building in a year when Richardson wants "Suh money" and walks. Mo is tied up and we made a commitment and I think it was the right move. I think Richardson with his upside and small contract is much more desirable and is a better candidate to get traded.
Trading Sheldon for a pick could help the Jets get another QB in the draft, or at the very least could help address or fix the OL or the secondary. I don't want another JAG QB. I'd rather the Jets just go with Petty and Hack, or those two plus a QB they draft. It's supposedly not going to be a great draft for QBs, so they might be better off going with just Petty and Hack (and maybe some JAG to hold the clipboard) and letting Petty and Hack fight it out for the starting spot so the Jets can see what they have in both of them. If neither proves worthy of the starting job, then the Jets will be in prime position for the 2018 draft where hopefully, there'll be a franchise QB they can draft.
That Cincy games seems like a LONG time ago... Yeah, Mo keeps his mouth shut, but also from reports slinks out of the clubhouse door when the team loses and doesnt talk to the press. At least Richardson speaks. Given what Mo is paid, he needs to more of a team leader out there. The reason I'm off the Mo train was that Cardinals game. Late in the game, Jets down big, playing like garbage. Cards are near the goal line, and Palmer attempts a short throw that gets blocked by Mo. Mo wags his finger at Palmer, like the big man intimidator he is. I tell my son, "Watch what happens next play, TD Cards". And sure enough, the Cardinal RB scampers untouched up the middle. I know its a silly reason, but I hate that shit. Down in the game, season is in the toilet, but Mo makes one play and he is showboating in prime time. Next play his defense gets run over. He made the Jets defense look like a laughingstock. Its not about being injured, its about being a leader.
If that were to happen, we'd better receive a 1st round draft pick in return. He's a true 1st round talent who's entering his prime years. If any tean wants a player of Richardson's caliber they'll have to enter next years draft without a 1st rounder. You want Richardson? It'll cost you.
I agree that Mo needs to be more of a team leader, or at least the Jets need him to be, but it may not be in his personality make up to be outspoken. I understand your getting pissed at Mo for what happened in the Cards game. I hate that kind of shit too! That's just another reason I don't like Bowles. I guess I'm old-fashioned, but I hate the players talking shit and wagging their fingers at the other team. Lots of times those wagging their fingers have made only one play in a game, or get burned a play or two later. They need to focus on doing their jobs and not showboating.
Dont get me wrong, I'm not above a showboating insult to a hated rival every now and again. My favorite was when Lamont Jordan ran in for a TD against the Pats to end their season. It was a night game, late at night in fact, and Jordan shushed the crowd, then laid down in the end-zone using the football as a pillow. He was flagged, of course, but with emotions running so high and the fact that he did end the Pats season you can forgive him that indulgence! Does anyone have that video clip? I hate the ones that are out of place or make no sense given the circimstances of the game. Its not because they are stupid. These guys do it because they know when contract time comes ESPN will use that play with Mo blocking the ball and wagging his finger and highlight how dominant a player he is. Only the Jet fans will know the score of the game or the state of his teams season when he did it, if they remember it at all.
Why do you hope a deal gets done? Are you a cowgirl fan? The only player with any heart on this Jets defense playing for cheap and you want to trade him away for some draft picks that they usually swing and miss on anyway
The only time this DL was great was when the sack exchange played, the last few years it has been all hype and no results.
I disagree. Last year's DL was great. They shut down opponents' rushing attack, and for a 3-4 DL they got a good number of pressures, hits and sacks on opposing QBs. They were pretty great vs Cincy in the opener. IMO one can't compare a 4-3 DL where you have four players that can pressure a QB and stop the run vs a 3-4 DL that is more focused on stopping the run and tying up blockers, and much less on pressuring the QB. Rex and Bowles have changed that to an extent, but play too much 4-3 and we don't have any 4-3 DEs. We're still very good, if not great, stopping the run, but can't consistently pressure opposing QBs because we have neither the 4-3 DEs or prototypical 3-4 OLBs.
agree... this line is average period. They get little to no pressure in passing downs and only play the run well. They are not dominate at all and only looked that way in the Cincy game which created more hype for these fools to believe....
