Yep. The fanbase only cares who the backup is because we haven't had a real QB since Namath before his knees fell apart. I'm starting to understand champ a bit, though. I want TMZ to start digging into the sex life of Woody Johnson. I mean, look at him. His dick is probably smaller than an inchworm. Imagine what kind of back office tantrums that little bitch throws when his prize football team gets their asses kicked? There's more to the Jets sucking than halftime adjustments.
It's probably irrelevant for tomorrow. Given what I call "the curse of Ryan Fitzpatrick" when he comes back from being backup he historically plays amazingly well. Factor in this is the Browns? He'll probably throw for 450 yards and 4TDs. Bowles will be off the hook for another week. I still think it's going to be Petty to get the first shot. Honestly though I'd rather Fitz play the next game or two so Petty can at least practice with the real team before throwing him to the wolves.
this game is huge,,,,,if we should lose to the BROWNS I think the bottom falls out,,,,,,,,fans and media would have a meltdown and we all know Woody reacts to stuff like that,,,,,,this game is much bigger than advertised .
Agreed...it's not a big game in the normal sense where we have a lot to gain but it's huge in that they have everything to lose
I, for one, want to know absolutely nothing about the sex life of Woody Johnson even if it is conducted on the fifty yard line as part of a halftime show. I'd suggest that type of interest should be kept private.
Haha I am just trying to put myself in Bowles' shoes, but I still think its completely wrong not to name a backup QB, unless you're pulling a Belichick to keep the competition on their toes., which I don't believe he is doing.
It would be hilarious if the Jets activated both of them to keep this secret, Fitz goes down with an ankle or some such, and then Bilal Powell goes in and they run the wildcat the rest of the game. This place might erupt into full rebellion. Would be worth it for that alone.
By the way, not even the guy who we were arguing about thinks he was entitled to a chance before Hackenberg. This is the right mindset, not "it would be unfair to screw Petty".
He sure says all the right things. Hopefully Fitz throws some picks and earns a seat on the bench and we see what Petty can do with these weapons.
The most interesting thing about this was really that it could be Hack. There were two choices - Petty & Hack. Petty was the obvious choice, so why not just say Petty? Petty hasn't been on the injury report for weeks, so he's healthy and has been getting reps. So, either or both of these must be true (i) they think Hack can play at this level now, which suggests that he understands the playbook and his mechanical problems are fixed enough to play and/or (ii) they lack so much confidence in Petty that they're ready to play a rookie QB who isn't ready to play yet. If it was (ii), then you'd think once he was injured they just would have put him on IR rather than keep him on as an extra QB on the roster. This all strongly suggests that Hack is likely to get some playing time soon. It's hard to believe that they'd play him if they didn't think he was ready given that if he looks bad the jets front office would look really bad for using a 2nd round pick on him.
I thought the first half Fitz was supposed to be this "pissed off " monster Qb that destroys teams.. Didn't look like it me. Looked more like the real Fitztragic.
After the game Todd Bowles said he was "not close" to making a switch. He said Petty is ahead of Hackenberg but "not by much". Gailey says he's still not sure "that he's 100% ready to play in an NFL game." Ringing endorsements throughout the building.
Not a very good endorsement for Petty in my opinion. Petty is a 2nd yr player that should be much farther in terms of progression.
