The only downside I can see is to the ego and pride of the FO/CS. Starting Petty before being eliminated is the same as raising the white flag on 2016 which is something they're not ready and/or willing to do just yet. The feeling may be mutual between the Organization and FitzTragic, but there's still the matter of $12mil of Woody's cash and the ROI on that contract. Throw away the boss's cash and you have a problem with the guy that pays you sooooo, Fitz will most likely get up to the bye week to "salvage" the season, miss the playoffs and screw the team out of a quality 1st rd pick for a lost 2016. To make matters worse, there's the lack of production from Wilk and Revis both of whom have monster contracts and playing below them. Mac should be concerned.. If FitzTragic is still starting after the bye and marginal, there's a problem in Florham Pk. This FO/CS has already proven to be Qb blind. Here's their opportunity to prove us wrong and do what's best for the team going forward at the most important position on the field.
If I am Woody, I tell Bowles and Mac to start Petty. The money he paid to Fitz shouldn't impact the decision on seeing what Petty can do on this lost season.
Yeah, it would be grounds to consider firing Macacgnan as well and Woody probably isn't quite ready for that yet.
Mac can't have many more contracts go bad on him like Wilks, Revis and FitzTragic. Those 3 contracts alone are a big hit on the cap and even if you were to combine the production of all three guys, Mac severely overpaid for their services. Pray Mac doesn't double down on his bad luck by playing Fitz the rest of the year thereby hindering the growth of two promising young Qb's. We already know Mac is Qb blind. Lets hope he isn't Qb stupid too..
Jets re-signed LB Jones to replace Geno. Good indication the ball will go to Petty if Fitzpatrick gets injured or the season is declared a lost cause (internally w/ organization).
I don't see Mac as that type of D-bag GM. I think it may have just be a matter of health with Petty, they wanted Dr. confirmation of his health as a #2 that could potentially wind up in the game if Shitzpatrick goes down. Mac picked both guys and (without creating a side-track discussion, imho he screwed the pooch picking Hack in round 2 when he could have had him in round 4 or later) its in his best interest that one of these young guys becomes a viable starter. I don't think he cares which one. If one of them can't become a legit starter he could wind up on the hot seat in 2-3 years, especially if some other picks don't live up to their draft slot. If he plays Petty and he shits the bed select another arm in the 2017 draft.. just pick one in the right round this time
Naughty indeed. He told Champ to suck camel dick...rather a crude thing to say to a senior citizen. I vote letting him back so he can bore us to death with tales of paella.
Where has he been? Here is a Cimini note on Petty/Hack #2 fight: http://www.espn.com/blog/new-york-j...mpetition-bryce-petty-vs-christian-hackenberg
lol - here's a thread that asked the very same question http://forums.jetnation.com/topic/116707-what-was-the-hampur/#comment-2539000
