I would kidnap his kids and give them back when he's 45.

We can always start Powell at QB.

If we make the playoffs, we should all go over to that silly religion thread and apologize to the Bible huggers because God does in fact exist.

He would have to throw 30 TD's, beat the Pats twice, have his best games against the remaining playoff bound teams on the schedule, take the Jets deep into the playoffs, and contribute to the development of Enunwa, Peake, Anderson, and J Marshall (not just lock into BMarsh.)

Anything can happen, but I doubt it highly.

I can however see them going on a decent run here, and the Jets can be in the hunt deep into December, limiting their ability to evaluate Petty or Hack.

The Jets i know and love. Allowing us to hang onto mathematical hope until the season hit's the teens. Leading to no playoffs and a meh draft position. The second they lose another game and he's healthy Petty should get his true try-out. He gets hurt again or sucks then it's Hack time.

If he has his best two seasons back to back, you'd really have to consider bringing him back... but no, it's time to move on.

If he manages to win a SB, heck yeah bring him back... as a coach.

This is kind of ridiculous. If we can win out, or only lose 1 or even 2 more games, and miracle our way into the playoffs, it will almost certainly mean Fitz will have to play even better than he did last year from here on out. Even if we lose out on the WC due to tie breakers at that point, anybody who proposes getting rid of Fitz after that will be laughed out of here.

But sure, as of today, it's easy to say we should move on. The day after our season is over, it will almost certainly still look that way. But if we make the kind of run that's being discussed, there won't be any question--everyone will want him back.

I think what will happen is the Jets will win the next three games, Browns, Fins, Rams, then lose to the Pats. Next week against the Colts (Dec 5th) will be when we see Petty. He will get the Colts, Niners, Fins, Pats then the Bills. 5 games is barely enough to evaluate the kid and determine what the Jets do next year but thats what I see happening.

It doesn't matter what draft spot we get (1-32), we will draft a DB or a DL. That is all.

It probably depends on how far the team goes in the playoffs. If they win a playoff game with him as the starter it’s hard not to bring him back. But the Jets would still have to be smart enough to not lock in long term to him.

More than anything though it depends on the development of the young QB’s behind him. In the scenario painted out by the OP, Fitz is obviously playing well if the team makes the playoffs. So with that taken into account, unless you feel Bryce or Hack, or a potential future draft pick are ready to start next year, why wouldn’t you bring Fitz back?

Who cares? We don't have any position group that is playing winning football. Our DBs and DL aren't playing any better than our QB, OL, LBs, WRs, or RBs.

The only way our 1st round pick is for the wrong position is if we use it on a K, P, or LS.

We can always pick the wrong player--but when you're as bad as we are, it's hard to pick for the wrong position.
