So much negativity in this thread. After so many losses, it feels good to be coming off a win with winnable games in front of us. Regardless of how you feel about Bowles, Fitz, etc...there is a very real possibility that the Jets are starring at 5-5 with two weeks to prepare for the Pats. Win that game and woah, things are interesting. Jets win this one. D goes two games without letting up a TD. Jets win 23 - 13 (Browns 2 FGs, one special teams or defensive TD). Then we go into Miami and route the Dolphins. Gut feeling.
336 my mistake I thought it was a home game but u are correct,,,,that said the game being away does not make me feel any warmer or fuzzier
That's an interesting point. McCown may start this week. Last season, before he went full retard and got his brain knocked out diving for the EZ, he basically picked our paper tiger secondary apart. The same secondary so many people like to pretend was solid last season. If McCown starts, this could be a classic Jets let-down turdfest. This team has zero heart. Half of the starters are taking the week off. Actually, more than half. You'd have to be a moron to look past the team we play on Sunday.
factor in all our injuries at some critical positions and this game has all the makings of a death match.
I'd be a little more forgiving to our secondary! True, McCown did have success moving the ball, but that was the very first series of the first game before he got helicoptered. Dude couldn't make it 5 minutes into the game before getting knocked out and that trend is still continuing this year. Every game he or any other QB that plays, gets hurt. McCown does at least try to move the ball down the field - Kessler more dink and dunk, Hogan with his legs - but his talent to throw to is not that intimidating.
The turnover thing could change it all. They get them and we don;t, then it is a 4th quarter game. Ryan is an equal opportunity turnover guy
Well we know Pryor will beat Skrine deep early, and from there the Jets D will get it together. Can see Folk putting us over at some point in the 3rd and we win 17-13.
Yep. And I have watched the Browns quite a bit this year. One thing they do have is heart. Big advantage browns in that aspect
Looks like Lee and Mangold will be out. Hurts both sides of the ball. The Browns certainly have a good shot this week. They know it too. The Jets better not be overlooking them.
Huge game. Win, and the FO suddenly thinks they can turn things around, leading to them sticking with Fitz longer then most of us would like. Lose, and we may get to see what we've got in Petty by next week. That could lead to a number of different things from an answer to the QB Issue, to an opportunity to address it with a high draft pick. I hate losing, but for once, the Jets organization needs to play the long game.
Nick Mangold left the Ravens game in the first quarter with an ankle injury, and with Wesley Johnson playing at center the rest of the game the Jets continued to run the ball well against a Ravens defense that was the number 1 against the run. The Jets will continue to ground and pound the Browns with Johnson playing center. On the other side Richardson will continue to play beast mode sans Wilkerson. The Jets will beat the Browns like they're supposed to. Book it.
This is the first time I've ever seen someone call a game against a winless team a "huge game". We've had our huge games. And lost all but one of them. The rest is just struggling to figure out how bad this team is.
but this is different, this isn't huge as in must win. almost the exact opposite. a loss might be what propels this franchise forward
McCown was not picking apart our secondary. He played what, one drive? On the first drive of the season? Not worth the argument. Jets pass defense last year was ranked 13th in the league. Top half of the league may not be the best, but it's not 'pretending to be solid' either. The team had enough heart to continue playing even if the games that they were out of. Peake running full speed for a TD against Seattle comes to mind. The starters are not 'taking the week off,' they are recovering from injuries. Next man up. The season is likely over, but I'm not giving up until I have to. I'm thinking 11-5, that is, until I'm forced to think 10-6.
