usually when someone plays poorly and gets benched they are pissed off at themselves for playing terrible. They don't rip apart the leadership for making a decision that pretty much every organization would've made without question.

    thats the difference.

as far as yesterday's game went, fitzpatrick didn't win anything. He just didn't blow it for once while his teammates won the game.

Led them to a win???? Did you watch the game??? The only thing Fitz led was his hand into Forte's stomach. The fact that he acted like he had anything to do with that win is laughable. He was awful yet again.

I'll take a shot at this.....

The 'gameplan' for this season was based upon replicating our 2015 success. Our D-Line and hefty LB's would stuff the run and pressure the QB without having to commit a ton of rex-style suicide blitzes giving the boys in coverage the chance to make plays and take the ball away. If they didn't do that then they'd at least pin teams back and force them to Punt to our upgraded special teams. Either way Fitz and company should be starting their series in a good field position and all he has to do is use his brains to read the opposing D, feed the ball to Forte/Powell and make the occasional (low 30's) throw to keep us progressing down the field where the combination of BM, Deck and our previously mentioned RB's would be deadly in the Redzone.

It would be an understatement to say that it hasn't really worked out that way for us!

We decided to abandon the 3-4 system that we drafted for, practiced and TB prefers so we could go 'BPA' and have Mo, Shelly and Lenny on the field at all times and thus haven't really generated any pressure from 4-3 unless the QB likes to hang onto the ball and play vertical (Bengals and Taylor). Our secondary is playing 10-15 yards off and being gashed as Revis is no longer jamming at the line like he used to either because of injury/fear/scheme and Skrine is playing out of position and on and on.

So our offense is playing from behind and pinned back deep in our own half to damn often. Deck is down, BM is getting doubled and has an annoying habit of dropping clutch passes (making him superb but not elite), Robby is a wee thing and too easy to bump/jam and the only thing that seems to work are short passes to Quince or Forte. This at least gives Forte something to do as we abandon the run early as well fall furthur behind and need to air it out. So we then ask Fitz to sling it and whatever juice he has in his arm is expended once he gets into the high 30's in attempts and the 4th quarter picks start happening.

So, to answer your question "Is there an upside to playing Fitz?"

Assuming we return to 3-4, that the secondary gets some of its mojo back and we decide to commit to the run (and not with Forte alone) then it's entirely possible that we can be 5-5 by the bye. then ofc its Brady and Co but after that there isn't a single game, apart from the return fixture with the Pats, that you would write off as an almost certain loss.

The route to a WC is thus available albeit an extreeeeeeeeeeeeeeemly long shot involving us being near perfect and the North and West eating each other/having injuries like Big Ben etc...

So, the upside is playoffs or at least being a bit relevant late in the year and therefore I'd still play Fitz up to defeat #7 then make the rapid switch to Petty.

Good post... I tend to agree with you re going back to Fitz, but if the teams only success is a strong D and running game what harm is there to insert Petty into QB? If he will be a game manager, why not?

I mean at least with Petty you know he can take shots downfield to keep the opposing defenses honest.

He nearly threw another interception as well...

He managed the game well. That's all. He needs to back up his words now going forward because his comments were uncalled for.

who did he "RIP APART"?...seriously, where are you inferring this from.... Please correct me if i missed something...but he said certain people didn't believe in him...that's it...and that is the truth....the autistic lynch mob on here is acting like he trashed everyone, and said the brass' decision wasn't warranted...this never happened... and many on this board complain incessantly about the NY media stirring up controversy where there is none...are no better right now here....

Fitz sucks...but he did nothing wrong in the PC yesterday...let it go....

You have to understand who you're talking to.

They are the "me first, I'm a victim" generation.

They need someone to blame, and Fitz is their target.

He didn't say certain people didn't believe in him he said everyone in management didn't believe in him. The same people that are writing his checks for his outrageous $12 mill contract btw. He also went out of his way to say that. He wasn't coaxed into it or anything. He could've kept those feelings to himself but he didn't because he wanted to rip apart the organization he plays for.

watch the presser if you don't believe me its on the jets website

Oh really....you sure it wasn't his ZERO TDs and 9 INTs this season alone in the 2nd half of games?

You sure it wasn't his absolutely embarrassing "hold out" to his trash dumpster play on the field to his joke of a press conference yesterday?

You've been spewing such ignorant garbage on here...you probably deserve to watch Fitzpatrick QB your favorite team for a lifetime

I don't think he was dumping in them either.

To me it came across as he was saying that they didn't believe in him anymore so he has to believe in himself to bounce back and prove himself. I think he's more disappointed in himself for letting it happen.

    Here come the personal attacks.

    Predictable.

Someone points out that the team is better off without your personal hero Geno Smith and you have to lash out at them personally.

    Got it.

Sorry about your hero's knee. And his lack of intelligence

I think he's kind of funny, actually. It's been a while since we had a good troll, most of the time it's Bills fans taking a break between window-licking sessions.
