What I mean is what players do you think are part of the core of this team that you would want to remain here for the future. According to Mac we are in a "competitive-rebuild" so there will be some moving parts.

my list is comprised of players that are of an obvious high skill level but also players who even through these rough times continuously show they want to win and want to be here I think those guys are really important to establishing a winning culture.

    My cant cut list:

Brandon Marshall - unquestioned leader, I wish he wanted to coach when he retired and not go into TV. his presence is good for everyone.

Darron Lee - impressed with what hes done given a small sample size.

Sheldon Richardson/ Leonard Williams - I want these guys to both retire as jets, both have huge motors and play with a big passion for the game.

Hack/Petty - Both are good QB prospects, their "cant-cutness" relies entirly on how they develop, but Petty IMO shows the kind of leadership you want in your QB... Hack is still young so its not unreasonable to think he would have those same qualities.

Quincy Enunwa - Plays hard and is tough as nails. can play both TE and WR. probably will never be an all -pro but will always be a solid WR. has a ton of heart.

Bilal Powell - criminally underused IMO, always runs hard and has respectable burst. never complained about touches and consistently improved his games.

Thats my list anyway... I know there are tons of young players on this team who you wouldn't cut yet like jenkins, j.marshall, peake, anderson, burris etc but those guys IMO could go either way my list is mostly players that I think are or will be the core of this team for the next few years. any other highly paid players I think we can live without.

    anyone else you would add?

No to Lee Rookie Year but bad First Round choice

Yes to Robbie A and Charon Peake especially after that dirty hit to the chin he took last game

Can you please define "care about"?

Because I'm pretty sure none of them know anyone on this forum exists.

Care about the laundry and the results the team produces on game day, if you're going to care about anything.

I care about everyone. I hope they all get it together. Who I care about and who I think is important to the team is different. Who I think is detrimental is different.

Honestly, we have too many stud d-linemen, so many we can't play them all at once. That's a problem because we're going to have to end up paying someone big money to sit the bench for half of our defensive snaps.

Darron Lee is playing well, he's not exactly a stud but he fills a roll for us and his speed allows him to rack up tackles and shut down dual threat QBs who have been able to get us the last few years.

Leonard Williams is a beast, I think he'll end up better than Mo and Sheldon when it's all said and done.

Marcus Williams is right on that cusp of being solid. Great ball skills but he takes himself out of the play too often and needs to shore up his tackling basics.

Bilal Powell is underrated. He should be getting more touches than Forte at this point. Whether or not he can handle that load is anyone's guess.

I've gone back and watched Petty's preseason tape, he's made real strides since last year and throws one of the best intermediate balls on this team (excluding Hack's first preseason drive). I think Petty's in the position where he needs game experience, his interception in the preseason was about him getting antsy when his protection broke down and him throwing a bad ball to a receiver who wasn't on the same planet let alone the same page as him. Other than that I can count the number of bad balls he threw with my hands, most of which were nowhere near as bad as Fitz tossed this year.

Ben Ijalana is alright in my book, James Carpenter is our best o-lineman.

Quincy is a welcome surprise, Charone Peake is steady, once he figures it out he's going to be great for us. Robby will shine once he gets someone to throw him the ball with some velocity.

All in all, our secondary either needs to get revamped or our coverage schemes need to change.

Our team leaders have been failing this year but it's not like our roster is trash from top to bottom.

Yes it is. Didn't quite see a house cleaning coming this year.

    Guys I think can succeed:

The rookie class - too early to give up on them (even the picks I didn't like)
Carpenter - our best offensive lineman
Brandon Marshall - best player on the team
Petty - Please tell me we have one QB on the team worth anything
Leonard Williams - starting to break out
Sheldon Richardson - bad attitude but very talented
Matt Forte - Looked good before coaches gave up on the run
Calvin Pryor - Great run stopper would do well if we had a center fielder at the other safety spot

Defense: Leonard Williams, Mo Wilkerson (though falling by the day), Deron Lee, Calvin Pryor (just think he is having an off year), Lorenzo Mauldin (he is still learning)
Offense: All the young WR's, particularly Peake. Carpenter, Winters, Petty, Decker. Marshall is a win now guy. Im not sure he will be around next year.

    D-Line Mo/Rich/Leo

Calvin Pryor - use him right and he's special.

Marcus Williams - Just does the right things. And he's the only guy that gets turnovers regularly.

    Darron Lee - Young stud

EDecker is so reliable when he's out on the field and IMO is the clear cut MVP of this team. We are a shit show when he's not playing. Complete shit show. Seems like he opens opportunity for everyone else on the offense. I think we scored literally like 2-3 TD's since he's been hurt.

Bilal Powell - like Pryor..when used right he's special.

Enunwa - Beast. Beast beast beast.

    Everyone else can kick rocks.

I def agree with you on decker I can't believe I forgot to mention him. However I totally disagree with you on Mo. I don't think we need 3 all pro DL and I think Mo is currently the worst of all of them as he doesn't play hard anymore.

I don't know how much of romo's contract is guaranteed but I might look at trading Wilkerson for romo and a 1st. (So that we can cut romo next year)

*disclaimer I don't know what's left in rooms deal I would only do it if we would save money in the end via what we would no longer have to pay Mo

I'd be down if Romo wasn't almost a for sure shot to get hurt. He's not very good at blitz pick ups ... still manages to get clobbered behind his amazing o-line... so imagine him behind ours! lmao.

Also risky trading away our best pass rusher (in his prime) knowing we have no pass rush even when he's here.

I know the QB position should be valued higher than any other position... but Romo is so damn fragile man it's scary to make that deal. Extremely High Risk with a possibly high reward.

I'd say most of the younger players because this rebuild is going to take 2-4 years - and that's not knowing what we have for a QB.
We've missed on a lot of draft picks in recent history and going forward we're not going to have a lot of wiggle room on hits/misses otherwise this will turn into a 10 year rebuild.
So the younger fellas need to step it up.

The trade was more about getting rid of mo and his contract then acquiring romo. I think Dallas is the only team that would take on that huge contract. Mo WAS our best pass rusher. Right now he's just a warm body. Seriously watch him closing on defensive snaps, he doesn't give a shit about the team.

Unless something drastically changes he is just cashing cheques.

I am totally a laundry man. These guys wear helmets, I don't see their faces. Catch the ball, run the ball, tackle. Please----at least play hard. They are not doing any of this stuff this year. So do I care about them personally or professionally? No. They have made my Sundays miserable so far.
