The key difference between Pennington and Brady today: Brady spent half of his afternoon in the mud, Penny did not. Credit Bob Sutton and Eric Mangini's gameplan and excellent execution by the defensive front and the Jets offensive line, in particular Bryan Thomas, Shaun Ellis, Victor Hobson, Brandon Moore, and D'Brickashaw Ferguson. Great games from them.
No doubt, he made many nice gains out of seemingly no space and without him we wouldn't have come close.
This thread is dumb. I'll give my props to Penny today, but one damn game and he's better than Brady?
There simply is no reason for comparison. All this says is they both had equally average days. The difference today was our D and our running game.
Isn't it amazing how ordinary a QB looks when he is under pressure!!! It doesn't matter who the QB - if he has DL in his face, he can't make plays.
See: Peyton Manning every year in the playoffs. The Patriots (and last year the Steelers) understand that to take the Colts offensive firepower away, you have to get the ball out of Manning's hands. Which means a lot of blitzing to force quick throws, a lot of fake blitzes and confusing coverages to force bad decisions, and a lot of effort from the front 3.
so much for all the barlow haters...him and washington both had some big plays, and i such a ballsy throw by chad to cotch...definitely not herm edwards style,i'll tell you that much
Barlow had a good game, however I don't expect that to happen on a weekly basis. I hope he proves me wrong though.
Who cares about style, a win is a win. Nobody will remember that Cotchery's touchdown pass should've been an interception, only that Cotch somehow came down with it (despite the throw into coverage, it was a beatiful ball by Pennington.) That's the thing I like about Mangini and his coaching staff, and it's something that is certainly in contrast to the Herm Edwards regime: stats, style, the media and all that stuff doesn't matter to them. It's all about the W.
of course he was he was playing against basicly out second string D-line. and anyway Brady had 255yds
If you throw the ball 40 times you better have 200 yards.. We heard the exscuse for you D-line, now what's the exscuse for the O-line?
