I had hope for our GM, but he came in with a lot of cap space and a good defense, and now the cap is horrible and so is the secondary. He has made a few good trades, but his mistakes have got the team going in the wrong direction. Our HC is Rex 2.0, with focusing on the defense, drafting defense, and yet the defense looks worse each year. The Jets have the second worst scouting and talent evaluators in the NFL. Thank God for Cleveland or we would be last. The last time we drafted an offensive player in the 1st round was Sanchez, who by the way was never 1-5 which we will be after tomorrow night. Just think for as shitty as we are, we could of just started Smith, saved $12M and still be in the hunt for the 1st overall pick. If or when we lose tomorrow, the season will be over and we need to start getting ready for next year by playing the younger guys. Revis Island is underwater and for all the 1st round picks on the DL, we can't get any pressure. Looks like we should trade Wilkerson to unload the HUGE contract so the next HC can actually get players and Cut Revis at the end of the season to save cap. I had hopes for this season, but a lose on MNF in front of the country should be the final nail. I'm hoping we still can pull off a miracle, but tomorrow will tell the truth.
Hope we win this one for Byrd...Been down on the team like most fans and was almost indifferent last week but I'll be rooting hard tomorrow night If they lose then we can start looking at stuff like this I guess
The whole scouting department had 1 draft. If I remember correctly, Mac didn't make moves in the scouting department his first year because there wasn't enough time.
Need a top quarterback. This season is about finding out if they have have a prospect on the team. The sooner they find out the better. If not and there is no qb trade down.
Fuck that. I'm not giving up like some of you have already. If you gave up already then leave the board until season is over. The Jets still have 11 more games left that alot of football left.
Any hope for a decent season has passed, we're not good enough to win 10 more games with the current offense. I'd like to see Petty finish the year, maybe Hack for a few games. One of them is the future and the future is now.
You haven't factored in our meaningless 4 game run we will undoubtedly go on to end the season and push us back to #9 or something.
The season is on the line tonight, if we win, we have hope, it we lose, another year down the drain. Eight straight defensive picks in the first round and we wonder why our offense stinks. This is on the owner. 2010 Kyle Wilson CB 2011 Muhammad Wilkerson DL 2012 Quinton Coples DE 2013 Dee Milliner CB 2013 Sheldon Richardson DT 2014 Calvin Pryor S 2015 Leonard Williams DT 2016 Darron Lee LB
This thread is comical. The Jets can't draft their way out of a wet paper bag. We would be better off trading ALL of our draft picks for 2 or 3 established NFL players.
Tonight will be a huge turning point ... if we somehow manage to win I could see us turning it around and going on a streak ... if we lose then we might as well put in Petty next week and see what we've got. If we stick with Fitz I could see us ending up with 3 maybe 4 wins ...
Looking forward to a top 5 pick just to blow it is no silver lining for me ... if we lose tonight I could honestly see the Browns getting their first win against us come week 8
Cap looks scary but it isn't that bad we most likely trade Sheldon ... we could cut Revis, Breno, and Harris and boom we've got 30 mil in space ... that is before we give Clady a new contract which should lower his cap hit.
I know the season hasn't gotten off to a good start but saying we have one of the worst scouting departments, general managers is a "sky is falling" outlook that probably has little to no merit given that every draft class deserves 3 seasons to accurately assess. Can we look at the roster before Macc took over and say it was any good? I happen to think the Jets roster prior to maccagnan was probably bottom 5-10 in the league, currently I think our roster is probably top 15. The unfortunate reality about talented rosters is on paper you can be talented but unless coached properly, things can become sour pretty quickly. Instead of blaming Macc, isn't more blame to be placed on Bowles for continuously making terrible head coaching decisions? The blown coverages, the use of Mo, Shells, Williams and McLendon at the same time meanwhile we all know they can't be on at the same time and be successful, the collective downturn of the secondary.... I happen to think this is very much an issue of coaching, and to a degree player personnel. If I had to put a blame total it would be a 70-30%...Macc has done a fine job thus far, a lot is yet to be determined.
IF this team lays an egg on national tv with the season on the line and throw in all the "win it for Byrd " stuff when they should just win for themselves,,,,,,,,I honestly do not expect them to come out strong , I think the coach is bad and this team has issues that he just cant fix because he is in over his head! I hope the coach and team prove me wrong but Arizona has struggled this year but I think they are a very good team , I say this not being a big Carson Palmer fan at all,,,,,,tonight will be telling
worst scouting in the league???? that's a bit much .. Trade Wilk? No... people miss out on what our d-line does to offenses... Teams already expect our d-line to bring it every play so they make it their job to not let our line eat them up.. Offenses play against us wayyyy differently than they do other teams.. because our d-line is that stout. QB's are throwing quick hits usually to the flat or 3-5 yard slants... or screens. The plays they run on us have no development.. if they do try that's when we get pressure ( See Andy Dalton).. But I don't know why people are expecting a ton of sacks and QB hits when QB's are throwing damn near before they even finish yelling HIKE. This doesn't show up in any stat but it's for sure making a huge difference to how people play us.. I think people under value that. Plus our run D is beautiful as well. I have zero issues with the d-line. We won't get pressure because we've earned that respect from opposing QB's and OC's.. Now it's up to our secondary to make some plays knowing that everything will come quick. Why our CB's line up 15 yards off makes no sense to me at all.. If bowles gave his corners safety help up top.. we could jam then those quick passes can turn into turnovers and our defense would make so much more sense.. but when they play off like they we're just welcoming teams to shred us up.. Bowles has got to game plan better.
