I think so. 2-3. The throw in the Cincy game, the bad decisions in the KC game, and Seattle, Jets were right there. Even so, I would be willing as a fan to see what happens if they were to throw Petty out there.
i totally disagree. but if you do feel that way, then you gotta still blame the coaches for not playing one of the other guys. it's not like they aren't here. if we didn't sign Fitz, and went 0-5 or 1-4 with Geno or Petty, people would rightfully be calling for Mac's head for not at least adding a veteran option. He provided that option, which he had to (even if not a great option), but we aren't tied into using him all season.
Uhe biggest issue with this team is that on a whole they have taken on the personality of their coach..zombie, brain dead, emotionless..call it what you want but they play like he coaches.
12M and one year is not big time money for QB's anymore. it's a fraction of what other mediocre QB's are getting paid. don't back off the question, as that's where the real discussion is. it's all hindsight. the only answer i'd give you grief about would be Prescott, as that would be too much hindsight. no one thought he'd step in and do this well right away, including the Cowboys. I'm really impressed with Bradford and the Vikings. they are getting the most out of their D, have overcome major injuries, and Bradford is doing just enough to keep teams honest. Would you have given up a 1st rounder and taken on his contract though? I'd love to have Bradford here, but I think the coaching in Minnesota is the bigger reason for their success.
You guys who are coach killers have obviously spent no time coaching. You win with players that's why they have a draft and why college coaches recruit. An NFL club without a top QB has no chance. The league rules, unfortunately, make impossible to win without a top 10 signal caller.
I do blame the coaches too, but my point is that no one is pointing the finger at Mac and it's evident by the poll. I wouldn't be calling for Mac / Bowles head, especially if the QB is progressing. Hoyer was signed for 3M. Could've had him as a backup. I think there was a winnable game if we had a QB that could make all of the throws. Jets left a lot of points on the field. Petty showed some good things in the preseason and had a better rapport with our young receivers in Anderson / Peake. They to me easily get another 2 years to see if they can fix their issues.
Paraphrased: Question: "How do you feel about the execution of the offense?" McKay: "I'm all for it."
1. you did not state what "jet nation " felt, if that's what you meant by the team should have improved then you did not do a good job of stating that. it appeared as if you felt the team should be improved. I did not. I had us pegged as an 8-8 team at best. 2. you do not get to decide what pick was the gm's and what was the coaches unless it comes out as fact. the gm's has his name on every single pick made as far as we know. unless you have inside info that mac is allowing bowles personnel decisions. so with that said, you are contradicting yourself if you say lee sucks and was a bad pick but mac knows how to draft good players. try and rationalize it all you want but that's what it is. as far as the bolded goes. you are forgiven, because I don't care if you criticize the team, and I would hardy call your post scathing, but talk out of both sides of your mouth and expect to be called on it.
Agreed. Most people I spoke with predicted seven to nine wins. From what I remember on here, everybody was dreading that schedule. NY media in general hated the Jets' chances this year. I thought 8 wins, maybe 9 if lucky, but at this point that seems way too optimistic.
Big homefield advantage and they are starting to come back to the pack. Terrible about Dennis Byrd. I was at the game when he was hurt. Awful stuff?
WTF do you think you're calling me out on??? Once again, just so you can attempt to get it through your head, I did NOT contradict myself in any way. Your assumption that I am, is merely drawing conclusions and being a dingbat. Mac drafted Leonard Williams. He drafted Charone Peake and signed Jalin Marshall and Robbie Anderson to UDFA contracts. He managed to get Bilal Powell to resign and also a very good replacement for Snacks in Steve McClendon. He managed to trade a mere 5th rounder to get Brandon Marshall. He's also set this team to have quite a bit of money under the cap this coming offseason and thus he'll be able to pursue more free agents that will fill specific needs. So maybe it didn't cross your mind that there's MUCH more being considered than just one drafted player? Your assumptions are dumb as there is a lot more to consider before summarily writing off the GM as incompetent. Mac also drafted Darron Lee. That pick IMPO is a bad pick. Mac more than likely drafted Lee because Bowles said he'd like to have him as evidenced by Bowles using Buchanon at LB in AZ. As far as I am concerned, Mac drafted Lee as another coddling move for Bowles. He's giving Bowles whatever he wants. Bowles is also hanging himself with everything he's been given. Bowles sucks and so does Darron Lee. Lee was supposed to put this defense over the top, the all around versatile guy that would play inside, outside, and cover TE's. The whole claim that he can cover TE's is the most insanely idiotic claim I have ever heard. He's simply too small. The pick has also limited the Jets defensive philosophy now as they are now playing strictly a 4-3 alignment to accommodate Verne Troyer into the starting lineup. Troyer is a PART TIME player. In summary, Mac for the most part has done a good job as the GM. His errors are hiring Todd Bowles and drafting a very specific player that Bowles wanted. Mac will need to make up for these mistakes and IMO the sooner he admits hiring Bowles was a very bad decision, the sooner he can correct the path the Jets are on.
It is. You are looking at a 5 or 6 win team at best. This CS has no idea how to get the most out of the talent on the team. Bowles himself sucks at motivating players. The team shows up flat often and there are numerous examples throughout Bowles 21 game coaching tenure of the team playing very lackluster football, as though they are sleepwalking through games. It's unacceptable.
