The defense is so slow,I watch other teams and there defense looks more faster that ours. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
KEY STAT REGARDING PREPARATION AND COACHING ADJUSTMENTS: In 2015 the Jets were outscored in the second half in five games. In 2016 the Jets were outscored in the second half in five games...and counting.
He spent a fortune on Revis mostly; not quite as much on the others. Everyone knew that Revis Island isn't there anymore, but I don't think anyone could have predicted this kind of drop off in performance. Honestly though, I don't think the secondary is that bad, talent wise. It's how we're using them that's the problem. And THAT is on Bowles, not Mac.
Ya know, I don't think that's the issue. I mean, have YOU ever been an NFL head coach? No. But you know not to call a timeout when the clock is stopped. And you know to go for it on 4th and 2 when down 2 scores and only 7 minutes and change left. These are common sense things. First time head coaches should know these things.
You might want to check out the Jets roster one more time. Absolutely loaded with top tier talent and first round draft picks. If I could change only one thing after QB right now it would be coaching.
Chan sucks just as bad. 3rd and 1 and we line up with no running back and stare down Marshall. Settle for a FG opening drive and Todd is clapping. What a joke.
Just tuned in to see this joke of a Coach in action I was out all day and taped the fiasco No surprise here except for a competitive first half. Gut said heart would be broken ... Then our pussy coach with the 4th and 2YARDS with 7 plus minutes to go makes the obvious mistake Forte Powell someone cant make 2 yards????? Bowles has got to go...Chan in as interim cant be any worse
The problem is, experienced head coaches don't generally have a much better track record with their second team, at least when it comes to long term success. Notable exceptions for Bill Parcells, Bill Belicheat, and Pete Carroll. However, look at George Seifert with the Panthers, Steve Mariucci with the Lions, Mike Ditka with the Saints, Jimmy Johnson with the Dolphins, Dennis Green with the Cardinals, Mike Shanahan with the Redskins...All had head coaching experience and all were relatively successful for at least part of their time with the first team. All underwhelmed at best, and completely failed at worst, with their second team. I don't think the experience really matters. The problem is they are just not hiring the right kind of people, intellect-wise. Woody is always looking for a coach who is going to coach in a certain style (conservative, clock killing offense, and supposedly good defense) rather than someone who is simply going to try and win any way he can. If we can get a former HC for the position, great. If we can get a first time HC to do that, just as good.
Bowles was a billed as a guy that blitzed a ton and played man to man. Thus far this year we've just seen a ton of zones. The Dline has no shot as they are constantly facing double teams/max protection. Bowles needs to be more creative on the edge to alleviate the attention that Williams, Richardson, and Wilkerson are receiving. Perhaps more DB blitzes or see what Lee could do in that role.
We need an offensive minded head coach that can get us scoring enough points to win by developing a young QB with a killer instinct.
Hmm fresh out.. I can do a defensive guy with no head coaching experience every couple of years. How's that sound?
I thought of the same thing as soon as the Jets lined up. Why not have a RB and at least give the defense something to think about? Another wasted opportunity.
